flafson Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 You said they were giving him away to anyone that would take his salary, Kenny Ken Ken said that they were looking for prospects for him. With that many in the hunt, they'll get a good return. If you check on trade roumers, before they said they were adjusting his price, they wanted 2 ok prospects and someone to pay his salary, but now since they want it done by today, they are willing to take 1 ok prospect as long as someone takes his salary.

Don't talk to me about buying I'll rage if AA adds a rental but, he should be looking at guys with multiple years of control for this year and next. It's not like they are going to rebuild in the off-season. They are going for it.

We should have traded for Masterson
kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Could AA go for a trade for Nolasco, contingent on an extension?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Could AA go for a trade for Nolasco, contingent on an extension? Yes The fact that he hasn't been mentioned almost makes me believe he might be right in there too...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Jair Jurrjens was DFA'ed recently.......hahaha. Possible option for Sunday? Bottom of barrell <---- Scrape here
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Jair Jurrjens was DFA'ed recently.......hahaha. Possible option for Sunday? Wow I'm glad we didn't trade for him last year. Phew.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Jair Jurrjens was DFA'ed recently.......hahaha. Possible option for Sunday? God no.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 God no. People were clamoring for AA to trade for him last season Thank God we didn't...
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 People were clamoring for AA to trade for him last season Thank God we didn't... Some people were, not me. If AA goes the trade route then we need a significant arm, not more junk.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 Hey kirk.. you still like Nate Schierholtz? Can prob get him for peanuts and crackerjacks at this point. He's f'd my fantasy team the last couple weeks so I'm kind of sour on him now.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Random idea. JJ+Reliever+prospect if needed to Texas Olt to Toronto Idk who the better 3B defensively is between Lawrie and Olt, but I'd say move Lawrie to 2nd

Pete_7 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 lawrie and it isnt close. Olt likely moves to 1st. I figured Texas might be a trade partner since they have a surplus of infielders and are looking for pitching. JJ has been bad so far

Pete_7 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I'm pretty sure that if we give them JJ, he will kill us big time next year. Well I doubt he's coming back here. We need to start thinking about 2014, not acquiring a rental for 2014. A trade like the Rasmus deal two years ago would be best.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Would you guys consider trading with the Giants for Japanese second baseman Kensuke Tanaka. He was a pretty good player in Japan and San Fran doesn't really have a need for him with Scutaro signed for a while. He's 32 and probably wouldn't cost much in a trade. Plus imagine him and Muni on the same team. lol Here are his stats from this year and scouting report on him: Kensuke Tanaka / 2B, SF Born 5/20/1981 (32 yrs old) Fukuoka, Japan Height 5-9 Weight 170 Bats/Throws L/R (AAA- PCL) .326/.390/.391 24rbi 11(2b) 3(3b) 29bb 25so 20sb 7cs An offensive-minded infielder from Japan's Pacific League, Kensuke Tanaka slashed .300/.350/.363 with in 505 plate appearances last season for the Nippon-Ham Fighters. Widely known as a solid glove man, he also showed plus speed and basestealing ability early in his career, though that has faded as he's matured.
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Looks like hes a better version of Muni.

flafson Verified Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 We need consistent arms, ones that you know what you will get. For some reason, most of our pitchers are all or nothing.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 A guy like Buehrle but a little better. We need a guy in his 20s who consistently puts up good seasons and makes all his starts. The teams with good rotations (Tampa, Cincinnati, Detroit, St. Louis) are build on young power arms who stay healthy. They don't cobble together a bunch of old guys who have speckled track records. I bet AA really regrets not investing in Latos, he would have been perfect. Andrew Cashner is you guy

Caper Verified Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Ok. Would Atlanta do this trade? JP Arencebia and Anthony Gose to Atlanta for Evan Gattis and BJ Upton. I find that trade intriguing. Atlanta never does JPA for Gattis straight up. Atlanta has Upton under a bad contract. Anthony Gose is cheap and could probably provide Atlanta with what Upton is providing now. Gattis has no track record and could quickly flop... or he could become an allstar. It would be an interesting trade proposal. We would quickly flip Upton to some other team (taking on money required) and maybe get a B prospect in return.

Do you want the BJ Upton contract?
Caper Verified Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 The Braves have no use whatsoever for Arencibia or Gose. There's no reason for us to want BJ Upton and his contract, or for the Braves to want to deal Gattis. Seems like a lose-lose. For the Braves they would be selling high on Gattis. Like Angrioter said..... Gattis could very well be another JPA type player. Gose could still be a stud. Allows the Braves to get out of an awful contract. Use the savings to re-sign Mccann. So basically the Braves are betting on Gose to provide what Upton does now but at a lot cheaper price and the ability to resign Mccann..... and that they don't get burnt by selling Gattis. Blue Jays are hoping the small sample size is no fluke and get a solution at the catching position. The gamble is very costly for the Jays... as you would eat about 25 million just to trade him.

I'm far more interested in the Braves' pitching than Upton and Gattis.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Say you were told "AA has been given about $70M to work with at the trade deadline." Would you want him to spend it on BJ Upton and Evan Gattis?! Gattis has some power but no analysts think he's going to be a great player long-term. Getting those two would barely help the Jays. May as well get Cliff Lee or Peavy. Caper AA hasn't extended the Rasmus yet and do you think he'll take the BJ contract?
