jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 4.5 games back of the second wild card:)
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 How does verlander lose to Baltimore? Wtf! The Baltimore series is a true test to see if we have turned the corner. If we could sweep them we'd be right in it.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Yes. 5 games is usually a benchmark when determining when to buy or sell. And DH12 was annoying on the old board too. As a matter of fact, I see the Jays potentially buying--we could use a 2B and maybe another SP.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Esmil Rogers in the first inning, against the 3rb batter of the game: - 96mph Fastball (Two-seam) - 97mph Fastball (Four-seam) Esmil Rogers in the 7th inning, against Helton with 2 men on: - 94mph Fastball (Two-seam) - 95mph Fastball (Four-seam) Holds his velocity well enough. He's looked fairly dominant for 3 starts in a row now. 6.2, 4 hits, 5 K's, 2 BB, 0 HR, 2 ER. 7.0, 5 hits, 1 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 1 ER. (59.1 GB%) 4.0, 3 hits, 6 K's, 1 BB, 0 HR, 1 ER. 3.1, 3 hits, 4 K's, 2 BB, 0 HR, 0 ER. How long until the wheels fall off.... any start now, or does this guy have enough SP fuel to give Toronto ~15 decent starts, maybe like a Carlos V would? .... Probably not. Not with 2.5 pitches and a pretty poor K/BB and run prevention track record in all roles.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 And DH12 was annoying on the old board too. You shouldn't be talking. Not that I should be either lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Hey, neither of those guys got banned! I forget why I got banned lol. I wonder if it was the page long swearing tirade at JPA or calling out the useless mod.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 its win win. Probably won't make the playoffs but the improved play ups the trade value to the players at the trade deadline. Then they can restock the farm with great young players so we can rebuild this franchise Too bad AA is a moron unwilling to admit defeat. IF this team is not .500 by the deadline, he should be selling.

JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Houston Astros won 6 in a row..Yes Houston Astros.. Let's not get ahead of ourselves..Let's sweep the Rockies and take 2/3 from Baltimore and then we will be in business..hell just sweep Baltimore too, never lose again. Houston lost to the White Sox two nights ago. Jays the only team in baseball with any sort of sustained winning streak. What has been really nice is the method in which we're winning - all 7 wins have been by two or more runs, and a run differential that was -50 at one point is now a modest -8.

If this team can get league average SP the rest of the way they will win a ton of games with that offense (which will only get strong in the coming days when Reyes returns) and pen.

Agreed, a strong pen and offense can carry a team a long way, all we need now is respectable pitching the rest of the way and they should win more then they lose.

This team is built as of this moment to potentially win a ton of games during the regular season. Come post season, this team doesn't look as good unless a couple SP really step up and pitch like aces.

Then they can restock the farm with great young players so we can rebuild this franchise I'm always really confused as to why people don't realize the team is designed to compete for 3 years, and the play since (as Chappy noted) they were 10-21 makes one believe they are a serious contender, especially in the following seasons. It would be pretty dumb to restock now, both due to the direction of the franchise but also for completely ruining the fan base. I'm really glad people on this forum don't run the team, or it would have been out of T. 10 years ago.

When they were 11 games under a case could be made that it was too big of a hurdle, but now only 2 games under, still in June and only 4.5 games back of a WC spot, this team is in the race. We all knew this team was better than what they played early on and now they are proving that to be true. Lets go for the sweep tonight.

Although we will have much more information about them after the 3 AL East series, then one can really evaluate what they should do at the deadline. They're probably going to make sure Reyes is back for the Boston series, and he (in my opinion) is their best player, and should be a serious boost to the offence. What's even better is when people were evaluating this team at the beginning of the year, most were accounting for Lind to be terrible. He's been fantastic, and if he keeps up reasonable production (obviously not this, but he did win a SS before) then getting through the top of that order is going to be tough. Lots is looking great right now, both for this year and next. Hopefully they can finish June or properly and ride the streak through the summer months

How is AA a moron for not admitting defeat? This team has been playing great lately and now has positioned themselves to possibly play some meaningful games down the stretch. He would have been a moron for panicking early but he didn't. As much as I disagree with some things AA has done, he has also done a lot of things right.

We are gaining momentum and confidence. We are getting out All Star SS back our pitchers are putting it all together and our offence is cranking it up. Still a long road but we are a good team and can make it interesting.

Hopefully they can finish June or properly and ride the streak through the summer months Lind has been a great surprise this year and by the looks of his approach, I think he will continue to be a strong weapon in our lineup. That being said, many thought Lawrie would take a step forward and that hasn't happened yet, so its somewhat of a wash (although Lind is performing better offensively than what most probably expected out of Lawrie). Adding Reyes will give this lineup 4 well above average bats in Reyes, Bautista, EE and Lind, not counting Rasmus who has been pretty good overall as well. If Melky gets going, this lineup will be that much better. I think Reyes comes back this weekend, but if not, then probably at the beginning of next week.

This team still has holes, but our weapons are so strong that it masks it somewhat. When Reyes returns, this is going to be one interesting lineup.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Lol at selling off for prospects 3 months into the season. Then again I guess we could use some good young talent like Syndergard, Hechevarria, Nicolino, and D'Arnaud right?
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Only one who makes sense to move is JJ and his stock isn't particularly at an all time high right now...

Would be nice to have him back for the O's but you don't want to rush him back after only a few games in Dunedin if I was to guess it would be more likely Boston Series
