  1. The main problem is carrying four bad infielders seems pointless
  2. I dont even think its a matter of building a WS team, more like a #1 ranked prospect team... but AA did that too... This bullpen should re-iterate to some the brilliance of AA. You may not agree with his moves, but his moves do a fantastic job at achieving whatever goals he has, and for that reason he's a top tier GM
  3. I'm actually all for a brawl if it heats Jose's bat up
  4. Baseball seems to be a game of making it even, both guys got an opportunity to chirp, and it's probably done now.
  5. Honestly, I don't know why people chirp at Jose... Anytime someone gets him pissed he seems to respond by getting hot... Here's to hoping this is the beggining of one of the great Jose streaks
  6. The thing about 'record breaking pace' is that you have to keep up a record breaking pace to break the record... Chance they give up <3 runs in the rest of June? Probably not so great
  7. I think there may be something to this
  8. I wouldn't take him too seriously, he's the type that hopes the jays are in perpetual rebuild
  9. Yup. Although we will have much more information about them after the 3 AL East series, then one can really evaluate what they should do at the deadline. They're probably going to make sure Reyes is back for the Boston series, and he (in my opinion) is their best player, and should be a serious boost to the offence. What's even better is when people were evaluating this team at the beginning of the year, most were accounting for Lind to be terrible. He's been fantastic, and if he keeps up reasonable production (obviously not this, but he did win a SS before) then getting through the top of that order is going to be tough. Lots is looking great right now, both for this year and next. Hopefully they can finish June or properly and ride the streak through the summer months
  10. Selling who? JJ sure, anybody else would be stupid. Also, lots of the pen moves AA made are looking pretty good right now.
  11. I'm always really confused as to why people don't realize the team is designed to compete for 3 years, and the play since (as Chappy noted) they were 10-21 makes one believe they are a serious contender, especially in the following seasons. It would be pretty dumb to restock now, both due to the direction of the franchise but also for completely ruining the fan base. I'm really glad people on this forum don't run the team, or it would have been out of T. 10 years ago.
  12. It was certainly a wise prediction that he would get to 0.3 before one.
  13. The problem with the huge punishments is you want to come close to a one size fits all. I'm not sure that banning Stroman for 2 years for taking the wrong supplement is worthwhile. It's a touchy issue that would take lots of work... Not sure they're interested in that work
  14. You know, after 20 years in the MLB they weren't sure what Blanco's potential was!
  15. Best way to get steroids out of the game? Have the punishment be salary related. Any player caught using steroids has a void contract and set salary for some probationary period, after which he hits the market again as a FA. Obviously the player's union wouldn't agree to this, so nothing will happen.
  16. It's funny because the comments in this interview can probably be copied to every single high school pitcher...
  17. I would say I'm one of the bigger AA supporters around here, but the fact this is happening now is completely incomprehensible
  18. What's more amazing, he actually has a negative FIP! So, he actually creates runs by pitching so well - pretty amazing stuff
  19. What's more amazing is he actually has a negative fip!
  20. Despite the nice idea of having him back, I find it really hard to believe he isn't being rushed...
  21. What do studies say about the steepness of decline from 37 to 38? I'd imagine if there was a decline it would have mostly happened by that point. It's mots likely he's injured, and it's affecting his abillity to throw his KB for strikes, which has been his main problem this year. It's his FB that's getting rocked
  22. I think they remove themselves from 3 straight RHers by pinch hitting Lind when the pen becomes an issue.
  23. Hey man, if we had a whole team of Melkys, would it be better than half a team of Sniders and half of Rajais?
  24. I was also referring to Snider's power disappearing and Rajai's skills eroding. I agree that if you use their whole careers in conjuction with an improvement on Snider's skills, then your analysis is ok. If you look at more recent data, then it simply holds no water - a Snider/Rajai platoon over the last 3 years would be the worst LF situation in the majors.
  25. It's almost like when you look at statistics, you completely ignore the trend.
