JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 And now.. Ortiz is done, who replaces Ortiz? They'll have to look outside the organization now. Most of the guys in AAA have been called up, just got there or aren't anything to bring up. You know the waiver claims will be coming. Hopefully AA can find a decent guy to bring in. If not someone will be rushed into the job.
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Come on Volquez...Teasing us twice now..Just hit him already
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 JPA's been a walk machine in this series!

Sparky12 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Wow 12 pitch walk, this can't be real life!
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Well they have no idea what they're doing. I think probably its still probably nothing much out of the ordinary overall during AA's tenure though. Sad but true.
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Unacceptable strikeout...This guy can't throw strikes..Rasmus needs to go Oz and wish for a brain
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Wow 12 pitch walk, this can't be real life! Ball 4 almost HBP
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 True might be able to tread water for a bit. I forgot JJ will be back in a couple days. Rogers might be back in the rotation too. I wouldn't be surprised if they even try McGowan as a starter. I can see them saying that Happ will be back at some point too. That'll likely be the game plan as usual. Tread water, make a waiver claim or a minor trade after ground is lost and kind of shrug shoulders.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I think we do have serious issues with developing players, but I don't think it has anything to do with the injuries. The only thing I can think of is that we stress heavily that every guy coming up should be able to throw the changeup, but I doubt that's causing it. I still kind of wonder if cut fastballs are causing some of the problems all teams are seeing recently.
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Kawasaki is skinny and noodly and can't beat that out lol
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Isn't Kawasaki supposed to be good at situational stuff? f***. Kawsa isn't good
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Yea to bad they didn't stretch out McGowan as a starter on his rehab stint, we have a serious need right now and it was suppose to be better for him according to the doc
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 We rush guys up after a few starts at AA, that's the problem. Guys don't spend a year at AA and AAA each to develop their fastball command. None of our homegrown pitchers can spot their fastball, which is the most important aspect of pitching. The Rays have guys go really slow, and when they come up always have good command - it's not a coincidence. I don't think that's the cause of the injuries though, which was my point.
HFTCycle Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 next guy please..no control what so ever by Lincoln...

The Rays have guys go really slow, and when they come up always have good command - it's not a coincidence. It' used to be "common sense" that if you can't locate your fastball you're finished before you start. They bring guys up from AA or sometimes lower levels. Give them a few innings, if that, then decide to send them back down because they still have work to do. They burn an option year, a roster spot, and wind up losing the guy on waivers or having to move the player because they run out of options before they're ready or their careers take longer since they're up before they should be. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Sanchez up at some point. I can see if the guy is almost ready and shows great command of his pitches. Some are ready sooner but it seems, like they did with Nolan this year, of grabbing guys for a spot start when they could just use a AAAA guy since they ship them down anyway.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 You should. I have never seen something like that wow. Well s***, had no idea that would actually happen Don't feel bad. Something similar happened to me once..... when I told dad to go f*** himself.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 True. I think the injuries are a product of no real plan for preventing them. We just use the 100 pitch-count thing, which isn't scientific at all. I wonder about guys coming in out of high school or college throwing 100+ innings, and then they get into the minors with short season and it seems like they throw very few for a year or two. I kind of wonder if that has something to do with it, especially at a time when the body is still developing.
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Will Jose Bautista ever do something? He's been downright awful for god knows how long
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Will Jose Bautista ever do something? He's been downright awful for god knows how long 3 games not including tonight (although the equivalent of 4).
Doc Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I thought Volquez was a bad pitcher, the Jays making him look pretty good.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I left, tuned back in and the Jays are down 4-2, seems about right. This is a 90 loss team folks.
