If I decide to do a radio phone in show for the board I'm going to try my hardest to get a radio interview with him...barring that I'm going to make sure that we have you on and do a Dominican version.

Kawasaki is a great mascot and he has the batting approach that most guys should have as a base. not saying I want a team full of slap hitters, but he lets the ball get deep and takes borderline pitches very well. he can pull more than people give him credit for, but he chooses to do what is best for the team. he is all about team and if we could put his brain into Lawrie's head we'd have a superstar.

Kawasaki is awesome. That's all I've got.

What happens to him after Reyes comes back? I sure hope we don't dump him to keep Boni around.

Owed $4 million after this season (3 + an option and buyout). Hard to say.

It's not really that bad, and it would allow us to keep Boni (DAT SPEED) and our lovable ninja. He may have some value based on track record.

Boni isn't really above being DFA'd. -0.1 WAR over 105 games the last two years, and will make in excess of $3 million in his last arbitration season next year. Maybe some team offers their 25th-ranked prospect or something. I like what Kawasaki brings this team more than I like what Boni brings. The ability to play an average short is a huge bonus.

right now it is Izturis that i want gone . Boni's bat is coming around and both are bad defensively so might as well keep the speed/bat combo . either way kawasaki with his 340ish OBP and better defense should be at 2nd when reyes comes back.

Yeah, its not a terrible contract, and he has a long track record of being useful, so who knows. I'd rather have Maicer than Boni next year though.

But you know that AA will never give up on Boni after saying he was the key to the Marlins deal. That'd basically be saying "fire me."

With Reyes back at SS, Kawasaki could provide some good D at 2B and with his ability to get on base and make the pitcher work, I'd be ok with carrying him at the 9th spot.

I think most posters here were pretty confident Kawasaki would at least have a good at bat and seeing as how the ump had bailed out Johnson and screwed DeRosa in the previous at bat, there was a good chance he'd draw a walk thus bringing up to bat Cabrera, who might be the guy most here would want in that spot.

This is an excellent point. I would trust Kawasaki more than most Jays players in a key at bat. He takes a lot of pitches.

Once Reyes comes back, AA has to find a spot on the roster for Kawasaki. He would be an excellent back up infielder.

Kawasaki plays the game the right way & he could teach a few other Jays teh importance of good at bats

Going to be funny listening to Jeff Blair tommorow. He hates Kawasaki.

Blair should apologize to the fan base if he says anything against Kawasaki.

Kawasaki reminds me of that guy in Pretty in Pink who was an exchange student that got drunk & fell out of a tree.

AA better be careful about annoying the fan base. There is room for Boni & Kawasaki on the team. The team could have back up catcher ( Thole), Kawasaki, Boni & Davis as the bench.

Derosa is easily expendable.

Chances are that by the time a decision is necessary, one of the OFor INF will be hurt, so no DFA is necessary

I'm still not convinced Lawrie wanted the RBI

I think it was more from the stand point just to reduce the lead by 1 rather than being concerned about the RBI however he was definitely out of place to be bringing it up on the field. Anyway, Gibbons ripped him one for what he did and I am sure he will be made aware of just how wrong his action was.

Thank you, for phrasing my thoughts more eloquently than I could lol.

I always think of the guy from revenge of the nerds that won the tricycle race... Never saw Pretty In Pink.

For all the s*** we give him, DeRosa has been somewhat-alright offensively.

Better than Lawrie actually

But no one would expect that to persist
