declan_44 Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Since there is no game today, what are everyone's thoughts on the home stand? I am looking for 6-3 with some excellent batting performances from Lind and Melky.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I don't know about the outcome of the games, but I'm betting that Rob Ford shows up, cracked out of his head, and streaks across the field.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 4-5 or 5-4 is as good as this team can do at this point.

I predict a massive disappointment for jays fans, that will turn into an acceptance of the inevitable failure and eventually people will just collectively not give a s***. AA will blame injuries and no one will be held accountable. edit:hope they prove me wrong...
Tuco Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 1-2 against TB 3-1 against BAL 1-1 against ATL So I see a 5-4 homestand, which at this point just isnt good enough
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 6-3 I'd like to see the math on that one. lol jays are getting about 1 good start avg for each time through the rotation, but the offense doesn't show up every day. the chance of both coming to any given game is slim at best. jays are 3rd in runs allowed 17th in runs scored 23 in OBP 22nd in avg 5th in HR they have only 1 shutout all year so, if the jays dont hit 5 HR a game, they dont win and this is a year where the offense is definitely all or nothing add in that TB have been crushing the ball for a month and Baltimore seems to have the jays number, the weak spot is ATL but that is only 2 games. not sure how that will add up to a .666 winning avg over the next 9 games. I'm not optimistic about the next few weeks.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 ATL for 2 games, 2 wins I'm sure we'll pull one game from the Rays, 3 wins The Orioles are lucky f***ing pieces of s*** who can't do anything but sit around and hope that everything goes right which for whatever reason it always does so those **********s can burn in hell, 6 wins My logic is simple: I hate the Orioles, thus, 6 wins. Lol.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Why would ATL = 2 wins? Because they've been playing really s***-like lately and their only wins recently have come against the Dodgers (and one against AZ). so your personal hate for the opposition is rated at 3 wins in 1 series? talk to AA about a contract. lol My logic is flawless lol.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 exactly, cant expect the stars to align again so soon.
Tuco Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Because they've been playing really s***-like lately and their only wins recently have come against the Dodgers (and one against AZ). My logic is flawless lol. There 5-5 in there last 10 games and won 3 in a row. I wouldnt exactly call that "playing really s***-like" no matter who they've beaten. Regardless there a good ballclub and will give us trouble. Expecting the Jays to sweep any team at this point is kind of silly seeing they look like a very bad team.

They've beaten the Dodgers, though, that's what I was talking about. We swept the Giants, didn't we? Meh, none of this is important as none of my logic is really serious here.

Jays beat the Giants because the Giants were looking at the standing and stats and thought they'd walk over the jays. they were not focus and started both games with lots of errors which is not like them.

Meh, it could happen to the Braves too. Okay, actual prediction: 5-4

The Giants played about as bad as you could and kicked the ball all over the field. I wouldnt be suprised if they had a rough night out on the town before the series started. We also faced Zito who isnt that good and Vogelsong has totally fallen off a cliff this season.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 after that the jays bought into their own hype again and blew junks against NY.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 after that the jays bought into their own hype again and blew junks against NY. I don't get how Morrow can be that inconsistent. It's wild.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 he doesn't have many innings as a starter. he hasn't done a whole season as a starter. he's been closed down or injured and only done part seasons. I think that is why he had been moved to the closer role before the jays got him. electric stuff, but you just dont know what you get.
Tuco Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I don't get how Morrow can be that inconsistent. It's wild. He doesnt have good control, is beyond fragile and seems somewhat like a mental midget.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 If I were betting on the overall home stand record, I would probably go with a losing record. I certainly hope I am wrong, but the only favorable pitching matchup against the Rays is the first game. The O's series could go either way, and I am not liking our chances against the Braves. That being said, if this team has any prayer of pulling off a winning home stand they almost certainly have to take the first game against the Rays. I might head down to the game if I wake up early enough in the morning.

That just made me lol, sorry.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 6-3....2 from Tampa, 3 from Baltimore and a split against the Braves! If this team does that then they remain right on track to right this mess they are in. They are 7-5 in their last 12 and a 6-3 home stand gets them to 13-8, which is right about the pace they need to maintain and it gets them to the 90 - 92 win mark. They probably need a small run with a 6 - 8 game winning streak somewhere in there to really make this work though, but not impossible. I really hope I am wrong about my prediction and if they can win Dickey's start it really gets things going.
