in all fairness to wilner he wasn't really 'offended' by the notion of burls losing weight as much as he was just trying to dismiss notions that some major change had to have happened for buehrle to start playing better

Jays Talk May 30.

First caller Mohammed is upset that the BlueJays allowed RA Dickey to climb mountains like Kilimanjaro in January which he believes hurt his back.

Wilner disputes this & says Dickey was fine in spring training.

Third caller says Dickey is a clown. Wilner hangs up.

Wilner acknowledges that 40-40 is unlikely for the Jays at this point.

Wilner concedes that the Jays have lost more games that they have won.

I think its refreshing that Wilner concedes the fact that the Jays have lost more games than they have won, yet he irritates me when he bashes fans that want Josh Thole here rather than Blanco.

Blanco can catch Dickey. Thole can catch Dickey. Thole has more upside than Blanco.

I know that switching from Blanco to Thole does not make the jays a playoff team.

However, even Wilner concedes that Thole's OBP would be higher than Blanco's.

Why is AA afraid to promote Thole? is he afraid that Blanco would beat him up:)))?

Jesus... the season is basically lost and the first caller wants to talk about Gose getting regular ab's in Buffalo.

Mike. What's your opinion on Dirk Hayhurst? And does it bother you when he always picks on you?

Dirk Hayhurst is a solid bullpen arm and likely has a more promising career as a major league pitcher at this point than Dustin McGowan or Ricky Romero

At this point in the season, I get enjoyment of listening to Mike Wilner desperately trying to convince Jays Talk callers that everything is "fine" with the Jays.

If the Jays were playing in NY ,Boston or Philadelphia, fans would be in revolt against the GM, Manager & certain players.

I prefer the analysis of Dirk Hayhurst & sometimes Greg Zaun to Wilner who is a Rogers apologist.

The next time AA shows up on the radio, he should be forced to explain why he is constantly sugarcoating the injury situation.

On Saturday night's Jays Talk, Mike called one caller a Jackass after the caller called Mike a Homer.

Mike said the jays could shop Melky,Buehle & Josh Johnson at the trade deadline.

Mike acknowledged that the Jays should beat the Padres 2 out of 3 games.

He said he understood why fans are frustrated.

Wilner's got some cheek tonight: shredding a guy for using an obscure statistic with a small sample size ... something Wilner does ALL the time.

This happens both ways all the time......nothing new. At least Wilner has a better handle on it.

Most callers are naive about their use of statistics. Wilner is guilty of subtle hypocrisy in order to 'win' against callers and tweeters. It is impossible to take him seriously.

I only do that at a .203 clip

I only follow baseball n football (NFL variety) So I don't find many good programs on the Fan. Blue Jays talk COULD be if only they had another host. No intelligent baseball fan would care to call Mike, hence we get all those suk-up callers which bore everyone except Mike. He called someone an idiot and a jackass because he simply called him a homer. Doesn't Rogers listen to their employees? If I owned Rogers, Wilner would be finished before sundown tonight, not at the end of the year. And he could take his play-by-play resume with him. I only listen to Blue Jays talk anymore to see how much wilner will make a fool out of himself tonight. I think he suffers from dementia, yet Rogers either don't listen to him or like the team, they don't care.

Just wanted to bump this to say something.

Mike Wilner, Wednesday June 11th Blue Jays Talk, discussing the Struggles of J.P. Arencibia:

"Matt Wieters is in his 4 1/2th season in the MLB, and he's got an OBP of .301. He was the most highly touted catching prospect, maybe in history, so he still hasn't found the bat maybe everyone thought he was gonna find. He's, I think, uhh, the same age as JP, or maybe a year younger, sometimes it takes catchers a lot of time, sometimes it never happens." (sic) He then went on to talk about how JP hasn't necessarily peaked.

In 571 games in his major league career, spanning from his age 23 season to his age 27, Matt Wieters has a career OBP of .325, not .301, and a career wOBA of .324. He has also developed fairly quickly, putting up 4.7 fWAR and 3.9 fWAR the past two full seasons, his age 25 and 26 seasons. While obviously catchers do take slightly longer to develop, here is another example of Wilner talking out of his ass and bullshitting about stats, but using his baby-gloves tone of voice to make it seem unquestionably true.

He's also one of the best, if not the best, defensive catcher in the AL. JPA is a 2-4 win downgrade from Weiters.

At the very least.

I think he was referring to Wieter's 2013 obp, not career

But still, its a stupid argument.

So then he was arguing that we should toss out his career numbers for 60 odd games he's played this year, in which case he's still a moron lol.

You know that caller was Wilnercebia right? Sooo....Wilners assessment was pretty accurate in that respect.

To be fair, both JPA and Wieters have obp's 30 points below their career averages

But Wieter's career OBP is passable and JP's is f***ing pathetic so his comparison of the two is still moronic. His point was that Wieter's hasn't found his bat, and that he's not living up to the hype, which is ridiculous.

Ya, he's having his worst year (in terms of OBP). I don't think anyone reasonably expects Weiters to put up a sub .320 OBP/wOBA by the end of September.

Wow. Wilner's on a tear tonight. He's managing to turn every subject and question into a vent at 'the fans'. Case in point: a chap calls in asking about a Jerry Howarth for the Frick Award; Wilner's response is along the lines of "People can't wait anymore. They can't just enjoy Tom Cheek winning. They want things before they have come. I wonder if this is a new thing."

The downside of seven straight wins!

Wilner just needs to find a woman, and all his problems will be solved

If I had to listen to the losers that call that show I'd flip on them non stop too. Of course he loves the suck up. I never called before.... I almost did earlier in the year to tell him to shut the f*** up with the defending of Mark Buehrle. I just couldn;t see how Buehrle could ever be an effective pitcher again..... and Mike constantly defended the guy..... He was right... glad I didn't call.
