KevinGregg Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 anyone have any idea who will be up to replace J.A. ?
admin Site Manager Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I don't have a clue. It's unfortunate it wasn't one day later, as then we'd be able to skip a start atleast. Pretty weird schedule. Play Redsox, fly across the country, play two game series with Giants, fly back across the country to NY. Atleast there's a da off before and after the two game series.

Atleast there's a da off before and after the two game series. The Giants games are actually in Toronto. But yeah, the schedule doesn't really allow for skipping a turn in the rotation. Looks like we will need 4 starts out of the replacement for the rest of the month.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I think Jenkins had a start recently, but I'm not sure he's anywhere ready to make a spot start.

KSaw Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 anyone have any idea who will be up to replace J.A. ? Miguel Batista. Most likely anyway.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Miguel Batista. Most likely anyway. No one in the minors? We really romero to step up now. What about cecil can he go?
KSaw Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) You're really looking at Ramon Ortiz, Dave Bush or Miguel Batista. If the injury was a week or two from now, you could add Buddy Carlyle to the mix, as Buddy is finally finding himself after the long road back from numerous injuries. Edited May 9, 2013 by KSaw
Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Claudio Vargas Deck McGuire Jenkins UGH, the rest of the staff has to step up, MB, Dickey have to regain form, morrow has to stay consistent, and romero has to get back to form or it's going to be impossible to climb out of this hole.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I hope AA doesn't panic and trades Sanchez or Osuna for another old dude
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I would ask the yankees for david phelps
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 If this happened like 2 months from now it'd be Sean Nolin ;/
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I don't think it would be Jenkins. For some reason he has only made 1 start so far this year in AA... If I had to choose someone I would go with Bush. He has a good K/BB ratio and doesn't walk many batters.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I suppose if we were going to go the trade route, Slowey, Feldman, Harrell and Bedard would probably be available. I want one of Feldman (wanted to sign him), Harrell (my friend hates him so just for the lulz), or Bud Norris. Norris is a solid #5 on a contending team if not a #4, and could probably slide into a high leverage spot / swingman spot if necessary.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 We could sign and bring in another player from the 2012 Marlins, Carlos Zambrano?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 We could sign and bring in another player from the 2012 Marlins, Carlos Zambrano? Dear jeebus please NO. What's Carl Pavano up to these days?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I like Bud Norris too, but he may be too expensive. Houston would want a decent prospect or too, it'd take more than we gave up for Happ. Kevin Millwood may come out of retirement if we give him enough. I'd give up a couple of Cardona/Murphy/Dean for him. Millwood's a good option.

If I had to choose someone I would go with Bush. He has a good K/BB ratio and doesn't walk many batters. The first problem with this is we'd have to clear a spot on the 40 man roster for Bush (I think). The second problem is that we would then have to watch Dave Bush pitch.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Ah, here's who I was forgetting about: I want to trade for Jake Arrieta.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 We could sign and bring in another player from the 2012 Marlins, Carlos Zambrano? Hah, speak of the devil: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/05/long-island-ducks-sign-carlos-zambrano.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I'd give up a couple of Cardona/Murphy/Dean for him. Millwood's a good option. Cardona/Murphy/Dean for Bud Norris lol Bud Norris >> Happ = Wojc, Comer, Perez, Musgrove and Rollins

admin Site Manager Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Mcguire had one bad start but has looked okay other than that. Jenkins has had one start and it was pretty good too. I could see one of these guys.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Cardona/Murphy/Dean for Bud Norris lol Bud Norris >> Happ = Wojc, Comer, Perez, Musgrove and Rollins Wojc is really the only guy I miss from that. Comer blows. Actually, wow, Wojc would be awesome to call up right about now. Mcguire had one bad start but has looked okay other than that. Jenkins has had one start and it was pretty good too. I could see one of these guys. Jenkins is coming back from injury. Nolin could work too if we're rushing guys in that sense. Some guys I'd love to trade for: Jake Arrieta Sonny Gray Bud Norris Kyle Kendrick Kevin Slowey Scott Feldman I wonder what ever happened to Neftali Feliz.
admin Site Manager Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Yeah I mentioned Arrieta in the offseason as a good buy low candidate who could be on the verge of having a good year. With a few bad starts this year, he's definitely a buy low now. He was having problems with control, but looks to have settled in AAA.

He's got awesome stuff and I don't think he'd cost more than a low/mid level prospect.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Jenkins had right shoulder inflammation during spring training. I thought it wasn't supposed to have him miss any time but he missed the first month. Had his first start on Monday. With the positive updates on Happ's health it's looking a little more like it's spot starts rather than a big time solution. I expected AA to pick up Zach Clark anyway. Now I'm sure he will. Chances are one of the vets gets added to the 40 man and cut Todd Redmond (who'd be the perfect guy to make the start if he was healthy)
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Meh Clark's stats aren't all that great. What's his stuff like?
torontofan Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Any chance Lincoln starts? That was my first thought after the Happ injury and he's probably our best internal option we have.
