Bautista has not had a good start we know this, he has hit 7 hr's, but other then that has really struggled, especially with runners on. Do you think he is on the decline, or is it just a matter of time before he heats up? Based on him walking more lately there are signs he is going to heat up, or at least has a better approach. He has no hit a HR in awhile either. he is 32, but I am more inclined to think he will get hot soon, I hope so as we need him and edwin to really carry the load especially driving in runs.

Personal opinion - He's just streaky now, and will have some fantastic stretches this year interspersed with some bad ones

He's not washed up I don't think

Well he hit .181/.320 last year in April with 3 homeruns, so could be worse.

Then .257/.342 in May with 9HR

So .228/.348 with 7HR thus far really isn't far off what he's done last year.

Not to mention in six games in May he's hitting .353/.500 so far.

I'm not worried. He's swinging at a lot of mistake pitches and not punishing them. His timing is maybe off due to his two earlier injuries.

He's basically exactly what we should have expected him to be. The small dips in K% and ISO mean nothing in the sample we're dealing with.

He looks like he is heating up. Last night he pulled a few balls that were foul by a few feet. His timing seems to be getting really close.

He'll be fine. He's just starting off a little slow. He actually hit better this April then he did last April. Seems like his wrist is 100% again.

I'm not THAT worried about JB, but the warning signs, like his ability to hit a fastball, are there.

We can't forget he is not even a year removed from wrist surgery. That is major for a player, especially a hitter of Jose's calibre. My best guess is that you'll start seeing the HR and RBI flowing mid-May onwards.

Bautista hasn't been off to a bad start his numbers suggest otherwise. Slow start sure, but not a bad start. How's having an OPS of 848/wOBA of 361/wRC+ of 127/ a BB% 16.1 and K% 20.5 a bad start? I don't get this?

By my standards for an allstar it's a bad start he is hitting under .200 with runners on and only recently started drawing walks. Bautistas jobs is to drive in runs, hes not doing it right now. His average is bad as well, although starting to climb.

More so the lack of production, not driving in runs, terrible with runners on.

Agreed, i'm just stupid sometimes but I blame my wife for that, slowly sucking my life away.

I'm more concerned with Bautista's nagging injuries. He was removed from last night's game because of a sore back and sat out some games in May with an injury as well. I hope that everything returns to normal for him in the health department so he can continue to get back to MVP form.

Good point this has been an issue since last season.
