Yep, I'll wake up and hope that I saw into the future or something lol.

That's horrible lol. Especially 'cause we probably follow those with losses.

He is owed like 40 million over the next three seasons. The front office isn't just going to release him.

Yeah, I get that. But it would be nice to see this team take a stand and stop tolerating mediocrity, if you could call his performances even that. Although he samrtened up after those seven runs, he's done exactly the same thing in games past. 4 or 5 runs early on and then holds. I just don't think any team can afford to be getting behind the 8 ball every time out. I know 40 million is a lot of money but if this team is going to win, they can't keep handing this guy the ball.

I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, but I'd be willing to bet big that I am not. This guy is finished. His stuff is no longer major league calibre and he will continue to get his ass handed to him. So can they afford to wait....or does 40 million say they have to?

Nah, you were right in the first place...they can't just throw away a guy they owe 40 million bucks. In the back of my mind though I'm thinking maybe someone will give us another "vernon." I call it the "vernon" because I can't believe any team or individual on earth would rid us of that uuhhhhh, mess?

Not that I profess to be an expert, but I just think this guy is completely done and that although he shut it down today, giving up 7 runs isn't going to cut it. Watching him pitch, I can see immediately that he's just about done.

Ken, its going to be a big hill to climb, but if this team gets to .500 by mid season, then anything is possible. The key is to just get to .500 and then the WC doesn't look so out of reach.

1 win at a time.... just play good ball and it could still be a very good season. but no more bloody seven run innings from out pitching!!!!! today was a miracle. we will need more miracles, I just hope they dont have to be such monumental come from behinds.

That's always been the point in my mind. You HAVE to give your team the best chance to win every single day and if that means sitting Mark? It has to be done soon. He's shown no sign of being able to keep the ball down and with his lack of velocity, he HAS to be able to do that. As much as I've been frustrated with a guy like Cecil in the past, I truly believe 100% that he gives us a better chance to win right now than Mark does. Almost every single start, he has p[ut his team in a hole before the 4th inning is done.

I am not convinced this team is out of it yet. The hurdle is huge, but like I have said before if they just play good ball for a few weeks things will look much better. Forget the winning streaks, just win 10 out of the next 15 or something along those lines and our record doesn't look so horrid anymore.

This team is just at a point where if they go on another big losing streak than yeah they are probably finished.

This team still has a very good chance to get back in the thick of things. IMO, a team like Boston just isn't much better than a .500 team and neither is anyone else in our division really. The sox are playing over their heads and I can't see them continuing on this pace whatsover. Other than their bullpen, there isn't an area on their team where they excel. Bucholz is performing way over his head and guys like Dempster and Dubront aren't much to write home about neither. They have an ace in Lester, but even he showed huge cracks in his armor last year. IMO, on paper, we are a better team than they are. Even the Rays, they just aren't what they have been recently pitching wise. Don't get me wrong, I love the future of guys like Cobb and Moore but they are essentially rookies and I can't see either of them having banner years just yet. The numbers don't look great right now, but I think that 88-90 wins trumps this division and I think anyone of the teams in this division have it within their grasp.

I think part of the problem to start the year was arrogance. too many players bought into the hype and thought they'd just win. when they didn't win they panicked and that made things worse. they have finally stop playing bad baseball and are close to playing good baseball.

all the Gibbons haters can get off that band wagon. he has made all the right moves. Mottola has been saying all the right things to the hitters and it appears they are starting to buy in. Lind was the first. have to give him credit for making changes. (I thought he had his first dinger last night on the first pitch foul ball.)

lets hope they can have their first 3 game winning streak tonight. that would guarantee them a split and maybe they could win the 4 game series.

baby steps

Probably? If we lose more than 3/4 in a row, we're pretty much 100% done lol.

I think in his mind, MB was blaming JPA, and now he cant do that. those 7 runs were all him. he was spanked last night and his team bailed him out. lets hope he gets his brain on track and moves forward.

This is the type of win that can change a season BUT, we are not going anywhere until the starting pitching gets going it's may and we have one of the worst ERA's in baseball, this has to change, Romero and happ going this series worries me.
