TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Yeah I hope Pillar and Burns see promotions sometime soon. FSL allstar game was this weekend so maybe Burns will be promoted sooner than later With younger guys I like to see them stick with a level for the whole year, guys like Burns and Pillar, you have to know if they have what it takes to be added to the 40 man (which doesn't really need to be decided until October 2014). You'd like to see Burns get a piece of AA this year and a full year in AAA next year. With Pillar it's more important that he keep playing as much CF as possible...which means that he should remain in New Hampshire unless Gose gets the call back to the majors.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Jimenez 3-3 with two doubles. It would be awesome if he continued his hot start with the bat and create some buzz around him. It might make JPA hear some footsteps. Then again he might be traded for a middle reliever, lol.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 too upper body for me. I hate when you can't get info on a prospect (usually the info is out there but finding the right hit on twitter or in some paper isn't always easy). Not sure if there is an injury to him or they just want to hold him back to work on something. Quick hands, nice body move (both legs on the ground) and He doesn't need the whole body to generate that sound-ball.

Makes sense on Pillar because of Gose in Buffalo. I really want to see Burns in AA for the 2nd half or a good chunk of it. I was checking what Marisnick did last year before his promotion to NH and going by that, Burns might soon get the promotion. Anyway, we'll see what happens.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Boy NH getting some revenge on Erie for that 16 to something blowout yesterday, it's 14-0 in the bottom of the 4th for NH already. Stroman looking good. Aside from 1 awful start, he's been fine in AA. With Stroman, Nolin and Hutchison next season's depth looks ok although a lot can go wrong between now and then.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Jimenez 4-4 now...watch out JPA!
Caper Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 He was obviously pitching to the score.

ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 This thread should be stickied at the top Also Stroman 3IP 1H 0ER 1BB 4K Nice long video from Marcus Stroman's 8k game a couple of weeks ago. More video from his 5k game three weeks ago.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Jimenez 5 for 6 today Everyone pray AJ stays healthy. He's our only hope to get rid of JP.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 A somewhat old tweet but not sure if it was posted before. Jared Macdonald @Jared_Macdonald 21 May Also, unrelated to the Lugnuts, Adonys Cardona hit 99 mph yesterday in extended spring training.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I keep waiting for Cardona to break out. With his lack of IP's over the development years he'll never be stretched out to be the starter I hoped he'd be (I know it's possible but I'd say more like doubtful now). Obviously you keep him a starter but I think reliever is where he ends up
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Nice More innings lately too He's a starter...
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 this is better A couple more vids of the great Osuna. I like the vantage point on this one best. It's like a major league telecast.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Jimenez and Stroman are BEASTS. I think Stroman may be promotion worthy.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Ya 1-2 more good starts and Stroman should be promoted to AAA

He was hitting the corners nicely with the FB in the 2nd vid. His breaking ball also looked pretty good and he threw a few strikes with it.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Osuna has a pretty violent looking release on his arm.
theblujay Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 I'm really excited for Bluefield's season to start. Can't wait for Davis and DeJong to start playing. Add in Cardona and Tirado and others I can't remember right now.
theblujay Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Does anyone know when the GCL Jays start?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Julio Urias is a stud Agreed. This isn't a bandwagon thing for me either. I was wanting us to sign him last year ahead of either Mujica or Castillo, though mainly because he was cheaper as well. Imagine him and Osuna on the Lansing staff? Los Bloo Hays. lol

His breaking ball also looked pretty good and he threw a few strikes with it. I wasn't that happy with the breaking ball. He was getting under it and leaving it up a lot. His changeup however is as good as you could hope for an 18-year-old. I think it's a future 60 pitch. His fastball shows excellent late life, and his delivery, where he throws his glove out like Gustavo Chacin, creates deception and allows the pitch to get on the hitter quickly. The other thing I like about him is that while he's a strike thrower and can command the fastball very well, he's not afraid to expand the zone and throw the pitch out of the zone in pitchers counts to get the hitter to chase.

I only watched 3 minutes of the 2nd video and I probably on saw 3-4 breaking balls, but the ones I saw looked pretty good. But I believe you that it still needs work. The thing I keep on forgetting is that he's so young.
backontop Verified Member Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 When I first looked at this thread, I thought Ho-Hum, because all of my life I knew dik about what was happening in the JAYS minors until articles in the paper mentioned this guy or that guy, but this is a great source. The Starting Pitcher Sanchez, who Bob McGowan and others was so thrilled about on the radio last March for example. I heard two different sources, MW on "talking em up Blue Jays" said wait for 3 or 4 years, and some posters recently said NEXT YEAR! I wish. Who knows more. I like Mike in a way, and in another way I don't like him, so thats why I don't respect his opinion. I heard he is FAST! If you can't see it you can't hit it. Could he be a Blue Jay next year?

It's very unlikely that he makes the team next year. He could end up in NH this year and then NH and Buffalo next year. He could be on the team in 2015 if he continues to do well this year and next year, but thats a pretty big IF.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
