jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Anyways. Max PENTECOST is looking legit like we all expected. Excited about him.
over500 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I'm glad you find humor in something that killed thousands of innocent people for no reason at all. Disgusting. try millions.
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Sorry, but as a history major this sort of s*** really gets on my tits. If we're talking strictly about WW2 there were 3 holocausts: 20-25 million Russians, 8-15 million Chinese/SE Asians killed by Japan and 4.5 million Jews in Europe. To conflate holocaust and Jews and get the figures wrong just grinds my gears. Yes, I'm an anal retentive ******* about historical accuracy. Sorry.
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I googled it and that's the number they gave me... Lets just agree it was horrible thing. And not something I would consider funny in any way. I have spell check and I tried spelling Pentecost and Holocaust didn't pop up. Not even close... Apologies Jonn, I didn't want to seem like I was getting on your case in any way and I shouldn't have snapped back like that. The number of actual Jewish deaths has most accurately been pegged at 4.5m according to the latest research (John Lukacs The Hitler of History for example). The problem is that the number of victims killed by the Nazi regime is actually much higher as you indicated and the numbers often get mixed up or conflated. It may have been as many as 26-27 million Russians murdered, as the USSR never properly documented the actual figure and were not keen to own up to it even after the war due to Stalin's deal with Hitler in 1939. To add context to those and Japan's atrocities, Communism was responsible for the murder of as many as 100 million people in the 20th century (The Black Book of Communism is a great read on this subject). The bottom line is that the 20th century involved 100 years of unprecedented murder even as we 'evolved' as a species in terms of technology and knowledge. And Max Pentecost looks brilliant!!

You f***ing pansy. I'm not making fun of anyone that died. And plus. Anemic Offense tells me it may not have even happened.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 And also. Everyone knows I'm referring to the classic cult hit.... Cannibal Holocaust.
abola2121 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Miguel Castro = Juan Guzman 2.0?
43211234 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Pompey back in the lineup and playing CF tonight.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Kendal Graveman posted as the expected starter for the Bisons today. From Lansing to a Sept callup in 1 season? Graveman: A, +A, AA, AAA same year
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Pompey: 0-1, BB, SB, RS. Burns: 1-2, HR. Average up over .260, promote this man to AAA already. Cole not having a good AA debut: 4IP, 7H, 5ER, 4BB, 4K. Graveman's AAA debut is going a bit better: 3IP, 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Graveman's AAA debut is going a bit better: 3IP, 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K. Two more starts before AA starts pimping him as "The Answer." j/k
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Pompey 1-2 with a double and a walk. Also stole his 7th base in AA. Now hitting .290 with an OBP .370+
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Maybe Pompey can earn a promotion to Buffalo before the end of the season and start there 2015.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Maybe Pompey can earn a promotion to Buffalo before the end of the season and start there 2015. I think starting the year in AAA next year is pretty much a given.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I'm glad you find humor in something that killed thousands of innocent people for no reason at all. Disgusting. I find humour in literally everything. Don't impose your morality on me!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I think starting the year in AAA next year is pretty much a given. I don't think its a given at all. Hitters take longer to develop especially since he's a switch hitter. Most prospects will spend the majority of a year in AA.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Lawrie's night is over in Dunedin. 2-3 with a double and played second base.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Pompey with another base hit. 2-3 with a double and a walk, SB(7). Now hitting .297 / .390 +
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 To bad he isn't a second basemen. Better luck next time chief.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 To bad he isn't a second basemen. So your pretty confident in Gose eh?
metafour Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Barreto 2 for 2 with 2 HRs. Elite. Pentecost 2 for 2 with a double.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 One thing that stand out to me about Pentecost is the lack of walks. Only 2 walks this year and even in college he had a low walk rate. Now it could be the case of him being such a good hitter that he makes contact so much that he hasn't really learned to lay off pitches. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Gettin' Rowdy in here! 2-3 2r 1(2b) 1rbi 1bb up to .264 .395/.436/.514 in last 10 games
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Ryan Borucki in his Vancouver debut: 5IP, 2H, 0ER, 1BB, 7K.
abola2121 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Best part of Gravemans first AAA start is that he is still getting groundballs at an incredible rate (10 GO - 1 FO) Excellent. We haven't had a decent sinkerballer since Alvarez got traded. Edited August 3, 2014 by abola2121
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Looks like the Jays are starting to develop some talent it's to bad AA won't be here long enough see it through.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Looks like the Jays are starting to develop some talent it's to bad AA won't be here long enough see it through. I'd be shocked if AA's fired at the end of the season, especially if the team stays in the playoff race till the end. Only way I see him getting fired would be if the team collapsed. And yes, there are some emerging youngsters and the long-term outlook doesn't seem as dire as it may have looked at the end of the 2013 season. Another guy who's turned his season around is Andy Burns. He could be a decent role player for this team. I've wondered why they wouldn't try him at 2B, but maybe they already have.
