DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Bisons game done. Impressions: -Goins is really solid defensively -Gose looks a bit better at the plate -Get rid of f***ing Sierra already -Brad Glenn hit super well, a HR and some hard hit drives. Threw me a ball too -Marty Brown is insane -Michael Tonkin is pretty nice for Rochester Cool Gordie, thanks for sharing. How was your experience at the stadium? I've heard nothing but good things so far. Hoping to catch a game next season..
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 That is one awesome looking jersey for sure. Oh and nice that Norris caught that lol
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Norris final line 5IP 4H 1ER 1BB 8K The earned run came off a solo jack in the first inning He's really been on a nice roll of late. I'd like to see him make a couple of starts in Dunedin before the end of the season.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Cool Gordie, thanks for sharing. How was your experience at the stadium? I've heard nothing but good things so far. Hoping to catch a game next season.. Very nice stadium, nice fans, absolutely horrifyingly s***** food (if it qualifies as edible), you can sit pretty much anywhere. Not mind-blowingly amazing, but an excellent day trip. 4 f***ing hour drive back though. We left Buffalo at 8:30 and I got home just now. Traffic + Border = fuuuuuuck. This gets posted every few days or so but.. LB Dantzler is having a ridiculous season Well hot diggity damn, .449 wOBA. Norris final line 5IP 4H 1ER 1BB 8K The earned run came off a solo jack in the first inning That + his catch is so insanely sexy Norris <3
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Just checking in on one of the prospects I really like, Michael De La Cruz has a 157 wRC+ through 45 games at rookie. He's 20 though.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 And this: What reflexes. The batter though he killed Norris or something lol. That's a relief. Having said that, does anyone have the vid of the whole start as that's clearly a game broadcast?

billjc33 Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Bluefield is unreal Nay, Dean, Lugo, Barreto, Davis and sleeper Saez hitting the crap outta the ball and a pitching staff of Labourt, Dejong, Wasilewski, Dragmire and Dawson even the relief pitchers are unhittable. It will be interesting to see who skips Vancouver next year and goes straight to full season! All this with Robson already moving up and dominating with the Canadians.

Dawson is in Vancouver now too and you forgot about Tirado and Hollon.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 More Bluefield: Davis: 1-2 HR BB Nay: 2-4 HR Dean: 2-4 HR Barreto: 1-4

Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Most fun non-prospect to watch, Gabriel Jacobo. Really hitting the ball well since being called up to AA.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) I think I listened to one lugnuts game this year. They were speaking very highly of Emilio Guerrero... Their ss. Last night he was 6 for 6. I bet it must have been years since anyone in the jays system went 6 for 6. It seems he needs to put on about 40 or 50lbs. Edited August 17, 2013 by Caper
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Dawel Lugo assigned to Vancouver. Barreto to play SS everyday.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Awesome, and we're letting Barreto stay at short too. Our big league team may suck, but our minor league system has actually done pretty well this year.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Dawel Lugo assigned to Vancouver. Barreto to play SS everyday. Bitter sweet. I'm a big believer in bringing up top prospects together (push each other and the stacked teams tend to win), a Barreto-Lugo DP combo would have been fun to follow through the system. It's great to see though, Lugo has had a great season so far and certainly earned the promotion.

Our big league team may suck, but our minor league system has actually done pretty well this year. The upper levels of the system are still barren, at least some depth is beginning to build up in AAA. If AA doesn't have another major sell off we could be looking at a top 10 farm in a couple seasons.

The team needed to bite the bullet and tank for one more season because of the injuries and Romero's implosion, but it's a business after all.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 With the attendance bump I wouldn't be shocked to see payroll at $160M. Rogers knows if they make the playoffs this team will be profitable.

Rogers knows if they make the playoffs this team will be profitable. I doubt we'll see payroll that high next year, but I do think Rogers saw the increase in 2012 and wanted to build on that. It's interesting though because if they had remained patient, they would arguably have ended up being better and more profitable.

Our big league team may suck, but our minor league system has actually done pretty well this year. I'm overall very pleased with the lower levels this season; somewhat surprised, even. There is definitely a good amount of potential there, but to see so many of these players have good seasons in the same year is a real treat and gives some optimism for the next few years - regardless of what happens with the big league club.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 We've got a good lineup pitching today: Romero for Buffalo Stroman for NH Graveman for Lansing Gabs for Van DeJong for Bluefield

theblujay Verified Member Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 Bluefield's rotation is stacked now. Tirado, Labourt, DeJong, Wasilewski, Hollon. Hollon said he pitches tomorrow.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Stroman: 5.2IP 6H 2ER 6K Burns: 3-4 2B BB

Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Really wish the MiLB app showed all levels of minor league ball. Not just AA and AAA, the least interesting of the Jays minor system. There must be some legal issues there or something.
Josh Kasevich Buffalo Bisons - AAA SS Kasevich tallied 3 hits on Thursday including his 17th double. He's now hitting .303 on the season. Explore Josh Kasevich News >
