theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Anyone know if Stroman is pitching tomorrow? I think its his scheduled start, but on the website it still says TBD. I want to know because I might be able to go the game in NH tomorrow and I want to see him.

theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 His defense is bad, unlikely to stick at SS Is it his body type? Because I would think he would have plenty of time to get better at defense.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I don't know about the future of Franklin Barreto..... but I will say this. No one has better walk up music potential.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 His defense is bad, unlikely to stick at SS Could be purty at 2B or CF though --------------- Can I just point out that Dwight Smith Jr has a .360 wOBA? BABIP seems a tad high but damn, nice. I've never been too high on him lol.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 His defense is bad, unlikely to stick at SS He'd look good in centerfield though with that speed. Shane Victorino baby!
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Damn I was away all weekend with no internet and I missed all of this prospect talk Quick version: Nay is on fire

Caper Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Promote him please. I would bring him to the big leagues right now..... we need something to talk about.

I can't wait for next year when we get a good look at all the guys in Bluefield/Vancouver right now. Stroman is really interesting because if he can stick as a starter I think he's heavily underrated.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Barreto is pretty exciting. Only 17 years old, doesn't turn 18 until February. .814 OPS as a SS. I don't know how his D is, but if he can stick at SS he'll be someone to watch. Somebody put him in the SS, but he's not.

Supposed to grow out of the position. Right now he is a below average defender and even before he was signed tehre was talk of sliding Baretto to 2B. He's going to stay at SS until he fails though.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Stroman, Romero, Jenkins (GCL rehab), and DeJong take the bump tonight. Jenkins has already thrown, only 1IP, 2SO, no H, no R, no BB.

I'd much rather have someone grow out of a position rather than just failing.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 All of these rehab starts and make-up games is really making it difficult to track the guys in short season ball. I'm glad you caught that Hollon was also throwing today. Thanks for sharing.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Ok thanks fine. I'd much rather have someone grow out of a position rather than just failing. I guess I should be more specific. Baretto's range and arm project to be below average MLB tools. The thought is as he grows he'll lose range at SS and shift, his arm doesn't suit the hot corner and is probably limited to LF/CF/2B and SS if the range stays around. As ace said Baretto is really fast and his speed may play up more in the OF on the defensive end. At 5'9", good contact, some pop and speed profiles a pretty traditional 2B.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Barreto 1-2, double Hollon 3 clean innings, 2K's (GO5-0AO) Brentz IP, BB (GO2-1AO)
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Hollon was a steal at $400k.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 And Graveman, groundball machine Not a Graveman fan, RHP with upper 80's FB and fringe stuff, 22 in Lansing, going to have to show superb command to be an MLB starter.

ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Hollon was a steal at $400k. He's eally earning his dough that's for sure. I guess we're seeing why he was once ranked the top HS pitcher in the 2013 class.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Another fantastic start for Stroman. Move the man to AAA already!
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Stroman is killing it like he's out for revenge

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Deiferson Barreto killing it in the DSL this year. 18 years old should definitely see him stateside next year. Has 27 walks to only 19K in 200 AB. Last 10 games he's hitting .476/.542/.524. Has 19 SB to 4 CS
Josh Kasevich Buffalo Bisons - AAA SS Kasevich tallied 3 hits on Thursday including his 17th double. He's now hitting .303 on the season. Explore Josh Kasevich News >
