BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Didn't he trade for this pick? Yes he gave up Trevor Rosenthal for this pick and two late MiLB picks he won't use.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Wouldn't Naquin be eligible to be added after the waiver draft since he played AA in 2014? Is that how we did it last year? Maybe I'm misremembering my own rules, but I thought a guy who hit AA in the previous year could be promoted or waiver drafted, but not added as a free agent unless they actually got called up.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 North is right "If a prospect is cut from an MiLB roster before being promoted, that prospect can be picked up as a free agent from the Yahoo database (if at AA or higher) or drafted in the next MiLB draft (as long as they have never played an MLB game)." So yes, Naquin could be added by someone after the draft. Can't see why they would want to but they can!

We decided that playing in AA during the current year wasn't enough for free agent eligibility due to problems that arise with making players eligible at a specific time. I thought the resolution was that players needed to play AA in past seasons to gain eligibility. I'm not aware of a discrepancy in waiver draft eligibility and free agent eligibility.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 I think Gibbers might want to think about quitting a few of his dynasty leagues... isn't he in like, 12?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I remember that Gibbers made it seem like he had something up his sleeve with this waiver pick. Edit: The return will be much clearer as the off season unfolds.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Dinger takes Kang. Hurl up. Dinger's trade for 5 looks a bit better now.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 I'll predict that Dinger flips Kang before day 1

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'll predict that Dinger flips Kang before day 1 I think I'd like to see what I have first, but I would consider it if the value is there.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Suspense is going to build up during the day... Who are these players that Gibbers is trying to choose from? Is Kang even one of them? What's Dinger's play? Is he merely going to do the obvious thing and replace the closer he had to trade away? (I'd say more than likely since he's doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to over-complicate his strategy or try to make himself look like the smartest guy in the room). It was more me being up early, looking at my list and not wanting to make a hasty choice just to get the pick in before work. The pickings are weak, no internet access today at work.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 That's kind of gibbers' MO. My MO is also looking at a players past....and Santana's MiLB line is f***ing s***.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Ohhh, a race between GP and Hurl to see who can get their pick in first. Intense!!! It's like the Tortoise and the Snail.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Ohhh, a race between GP and Hurl to see who can get their pick in first. Intense!!! It's like the Tortoise and the Snail. AG's impatience has now reached leagues he's not even in
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Jesus, GP dropping the ball here? He should've made his pick prior to work? Nope
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I remember that Gibbers made it seem like he had something up his sleeve with this waiver pick. Edit: Things fell apart when Int'l signees didn't sign.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Maybe he thought he'd trade up further to land Maeda. The 13 year old wins the prize.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I don't understand why you'd take the time to respond to posts in this thread before picking.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I don't understand why you'd take the time to respond to posts in this thread before picking. I missed my window. I'm not even looking at players you're talking about, so who cares?
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I missed my window. I'm not even looking at players you're talking about, so who cares? New gibbers market inefficiency? Trading for high picks, letting your window expire, and then acting indignant when people point out that it's odd that you're taking the time to post on the forum while others could steal your draft slot?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I missed my window. I'm not even looking at players you're talking about, so who cares? Given that you actually traded someone useful for this pick, probably you?

He traded for the high pick because he expected more IFAs to be available (as we all did). I can see why he's less invested now.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Joe Smith picked I did not see this coming.
