Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 2018 1st round draftees who turn 22 by February 1st. Joey Bart Alex Bohm Jonathan India Brady Singer Seth Beer Jackson Kowar Daniel Lynch (who was undrafted in DDL's Rule 4 and will most certainly be picked in this June's) Caydn Grenier (undrafted but an Oriole so he suxx) Griffin Roberts (interesting guy who would get drafted in June with a good start) Lynch is a legit prospect (probably top 100) who meets the criteria. Sorry, I assumed it would be a given that they must have an MLB team who has signed them already (for the waiver draft).
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I think I would fall on the 2 draft side of the debate. I'm not really one for changing unless there is a really good reason for it. I don't mind if there is a rule change for prospect eligibility, but it certainly can't be on the fly given people have been evaluating based on the rules as written (per Hurl above).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Sorry, I assumed it would be a given that they must have an MLB team who has signed them already (for the waiver draft). So confused. All of those players are signed. I'm not saying it's right or wrong to just say everyone 22 or older is eligible. Just finding examples of people who would be eligible if we adjusted the rule. I don't think Lynch would be a top 3 pick (unless someone is huge on him and just went 78th in the LOD NPD so I doubt anyone is crazy high on him) and I think he would be a good addition to the Waiver draft this year (I have dipped into the prospect side of the waiver draft more often than most...with no real success story outside of being able to trade the players). Only prospect I remember getting selected in the Waiver draft who went on to be a solid keeper is Rhys Hoskins. Putting more prospect talent into this draft is not the worst idea.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 My point is Joey Bart, India, Bohm etc never would have made it to the waiver draft because they would be 1st rounders already in the summer MiLB draft, whereas Victor Victor would be eligible in the waiver draft first because of when international dudes sign.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 @BTS Wander Franco sounds the like scouting report that never was for Jose Ramirez.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Yeah I agree that it's too late to change rule application for this year. So Victor Victor will not be eligible. We will think about reforms and get something sensible in place for the 2020 season.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Since people are asking and have messaged me about the #2 waiver, I will be accepting wise offers for it. No guarantee that it'll be moved. Reminder that elite fantasy (and irl) catcher J.T. Realmuto is available.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 I'm open to making a trade.

Is jays_fever still ostensibly in the league? He’s completely AWOL and will certainly need to be replaced. Silvergun is the only other big question, but you’re the last to talk to him I think.

SG was active last year, just JF has been MIA from every league, he wasn't active last year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I need to trade a catcher. Realmuto - whose new home may soon by Cincinnati, Danny Jansen and Will Smith (LAD, will be on MLB roster) are all available. Looking primarily for 3B and SS, very good prospect and elite reliever secondary.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Interesting guys who are on the brink of the roster cut: Jeimer Candelario Danny Salazar Michael Feliz Drew Steckenrider Yonny Chirinos Steve Pearce Jonathan Villar Francis Martes Kolby Allard - on MLB roster (thanks Gibbers)
