Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I'm rostering like 6 guys I plan on dropping to free agency before the end of the year so my column in the spreadsheet has less trash. If you can find something keeper worthy on the waiver wire on September 6th, you deserve the asset. I mean... if I could, Vargas would have been cut awhile ago.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I mean... if I could, Vargas would have been cut awhile ago. That reminds me, I have to banish that POS to the waiver wire in BORED. It won't undo the pain he caused me last night, but it will help a bit.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 P2F you need to cut one more to accommodate Bundy.

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Realistically he should have crashed and burned months ago. You were on borrowed time. Lesson learned. When Jason Vargas ranks in the top-200 late in the season, you appreciate your good luck and cut ties before he blows up in the playoffs.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Org fix dis Player Josh Fields is in a DL position on your roster, but is no longer on the real-life DL. Please edit your lineup to activate this player from your DL and then attempt your transaction again. (Error #173) Dropped a guy but I could only move Fields out of the DL for tomorrow's games.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 P2F you need to cut one more to accommodate Bundy. I'll drop Tommy Joseph.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I feel like we should let the boss make the call on this one, I'm not a big fan personally, we've never done it before. You have the playoffs, leave us plebs alone, ********.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I feel like we should let the boss make the call on this one, I'm not a big fan personally, we've never done it before. Exactly. I was under the idea that we could just agree to the trades now, and not use it as roster manipulation.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Nobody I could pick up would be a keeper lol. So you'd be alright with your roster getting locked now then?
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I really don't understand why we'd complicate things by forcing someone to go back in two months and process these. Just to prevent eliminated teams from picking through waiver trash with their free roster spots?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 So you'd be alright with your roster getting locked now then? Doesn't bother me if you want to freeze my adds, but if that's the case then you should do it for all non-playoff teams and we specifically decided against that in the past. This is no different than me churning the end of my roster. What I add, P2F drops. It's zero sum.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I don't mind trades being made, though MLB rosters shouldn't be changed to reflect those trades until after the season is over.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I don't mind trades being made, though MLB rosters shouldn't be changed to reflect those trades until after the season is over. But why?

I don't care if non-playoff teams agree to trades in principle & post them up on here in September, though they should be completed at the end of the regular season on Yahoo.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 This just feels like a "North49" move RIP Former Champ
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Then why have a hard trade deadline on the last weekend of August? Because that's the last day you can make a trade and have it be reflected on your playoff roster? Seems like a pretty clear distinction.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Can one of the three people who have an issue with processing these as they happen please articulate in words why they want to delay processing them for 3 weeks?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 But why? It defeats the purpose of a trade deadline in August I guess for 12 other teams. As well, due to a trade like the one P2F just did where it has him acquiring MLB pieces for minor league pieces, he's dropping a relief pitcher like David Hernandez who likely would help one of the 8 playoff teams if someone decided to pick him up.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Can one of the three people who have an issue with processing these as they happen please articulate in words why they want to delay processing them for 3 weeks? It seems to be they think there could be some issues arising from these non-playoff teams then turning around and picking up free agents that are rightly theirs as playoff teams. However, the fatal flaw in that logic is that we can already pick up those players, and they've been picked through many times over already.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 he's dropping a relief pitcher like David Hernandez who likely would help one of the 8 playoff teams if someone decided to pick him up. That's what waivers are for. For all you know a non-playoff team will claim him.

But why does it matter that eliminated teams can make trades after the deadline? It's the same way in MLB - the trade deadline is for playoff roster eligibility.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Can one of the three people who have an issue with processing these as they happen please articulate in words why they want to delay processing them for 3 weeks? I guess we should have a league vote or have NJH make a final decision on it. You just can't change rules on the fly like this because then where is the line drawn if another similar issue pops up again down the road?

It's pandemonium!

I honestly can't believe this is even being raised as an issue.

You just can't change rules on the fly like this because then where is the line drawn if another similar issue pops up again down the road? Is this changing the rules? I've literally been assuming since the start of the DDL that non-playoff teams were free to make trades during the playoffs.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 It seems to be they think there could be some issues arising from these non-playoff teams then turning around and picking up free agents that are rightly theirs as playoff teams. You or any non-playoff team can pickup anyone, though that would require them to drop an active player from their roster, or to update your DL or NA slots. Due to a making a deal after the trade deadline, you now have two free roster spots where you can make adds that you wouldn't have had if you never traded Lamb and whoever else you moved.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Jaysblue will it make you happy if I promise to just not pick anyone up? If that can shut down this conversation, we can freeze my adds right now, since I'm the one with MLB openings created in these trades. Maybe then we can discuss the content of these actually-interesting trades.
