This has been the fastest DDL draft I've ever seen.

Average pick time is 25 minutes. We're flying through this.

Goldbull took THE Alexander Ramirez at 3-9...

Kings take...

He doesn't have a great approach. People in OBP leagues tend to like hitters with good approaches.

We've seen a lot of these "good tools weak approach" guys go sideways in value in the last few years. Mauricio, Luciano, Luis Matos...

But the main reason he fell ~10 picks (at the most) is that he has a generic name and he's easy to miss lmao.

I don't think Ramirez going in the mid 3rd is some great value, certainly not an oversight IMO.

Most of R2 = clearly better than him or equal to him. Could have gone end of the 2nd I guess.

I obviously like the pick (top 100 BA prospect in R3 is nice), but agree that it’s not some sort of crazy value.

I would have taken Sammy Zavala over him for sure if he’d gotten to me.

I didn’t know who Alex Ramirez was until last night. So there’s that

I still don't know who Alex Ramirez is tbh

if it's a Latin guy with a super common name, I just skip them because it's takes too long to find their profiles, because there's like 18 of them that show up in FanGraphs.

He shoud change his name to Slappy Ramirez. 1) Because it is appropriate to his SLG% 2) He would be easier to find when you do a Fantrax search.

Here I was getting excited about a hype post by King on my recent pick... and now it turns into a roast. Sweet.

FWIW Fangraphs grades him as a 60FV in raw, and it's still a .150 ISO in A+ as a 19 y/o. Not that bad.

Don't sweat it, it's a good pick, lol...

Ranked New York Mets #4 prospect in 2023

Track Record: Members of the 2019 international free agent class had it tough. Players who signed that July were deprived of a 2020 minor league season by the pandemic, effectively pushing their pro debuts to 2021. That list includes Ramirez, who made his pro debut for Low-A St. Lucie in June 2021, nearly two years after signing. He gained valuable reps in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League that summer and returned there to begin 2022. Ramirez earned a July 4 bump to High-A Brooklyn after he cut his chase rate nearly in half from May to June.

Scouting Report: Ramirez is the top athlete in the system and has raw tools few Mets prospects can approach. It's going to come down to how much he hits. Ramirez has an exaggerated load to his swing that includes a bat wrap, but up through High-A he has been able to get into launch position on time. From that point, his swing mechanics are fluid and his bat speed exceptional. Ramirez's overall numbers in 2022 were strong for a teenager, and he backed up that production by working deeper counts and hunting his pitch more often as the season progressed. Further growth in his chase rate and in terms of swinging less often could key a breakout. A key offseason goal for Ramirez will be adding strength to his 6-foot-3 frame. The Mets want to begin to turn his doubles--just four teenagers had more than his 30 two-baggers--into home runs as he embarks on his age-20 season. Ramirez is an above-average runner and graceful defender in center field. His plus arm would play in right field if he outgrows center. Ramirez tends to play on cruise control and could show more urgency.

The Future: Ramirez scuffled at times at High-A, and the Mets believe he will be better for the challenge. He is on track to reach Double-A as a 20-year-old at some point in 2023.

Scouting Grades: Hitting: 50. Power: 55. Speed: 50. Fielding: 55. Arm: 60

Did you volunteer or attend as a fan? I know in the past they have had a volunteer concert for all the WM volunteers and staff right after the Superbowl.

Work like a donkey. Got finished by halftime but did get to watch at a private party in the Fairmont on the course. It is a cool event because it is the largest attended sporting event throughout the week and it is completely zero waste. Absolutely all material is recycled, repurposed or composted, nothing generated ends in the landfill. This is gaining traction with all kinds of world class sporting events.

Ah I see this was directed at me. For the record, its the commish's decision on what to do. If the commish decides the draft is to continue, it would be inappropriate for me to then hold things up for 12 hrs or whatever.

I would have been fine with rewinding the draft, erasing my pick, and pausing until Eze had a chance to pick. Again, not my call.

I was taking Druw Jones. You would have been good.

Dinger implementing a Five Year Plan to make this last pick I guess

I'm an old man! If you think I'm staying up til 1 am to make a 6th rd pick in DDL, you are dead wrong.

True Cards draft:

Endy Rodriguez

Matt Mervis

Jarlin Susana

Ceddane Rafaela

Christian Encarnacion-Strand

Shintaro Fujinami

Jaison Chourio

Marco Raya

Joendry Vargas

This was the only draft of the three forum leagues that I ended up happy with. Not really a fan of CES, but I felt like I had to take him there. Fujinami will probably tank my ratios for a few weeks and them get dropped.

Also I think this is the fewest skipped picks (1) that we've ever had in a draft. I think that makes sense. There's always been a tendency to stick with stagnating prospects even thought they're less valuable than guys available in the late rounds, just because we've made an investment in them.

This draft was also much stronger than any prior prospect draft we have done, if my memory serves.

Sticky picks:

Emmanuel Rodriguez

Elijah Green

Spencer Jones

Jace Jung

Brock Porter

Robert Snelling

A good group of upside plays

I really wanted Manzardo and in hindsight should have taken him before Rodriguez who probably would still have been available at my next pick
