BTS Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Sticky picks: Emmanuel Rodriguez Elijah Green Spencer Jones Jace Jung Brock Porter Robert Snelling A good group of upside plays I really wanted Manzardo and in hindsight should have taken him before Rodriguez who probably would still have been available at my next pick I wanted Manzardo so bad, and missed him in every draft.

They join Oneil Cruz, Oswald Peraza, Bryan De La Cruz, and Hunter Brown on my farm and Johan Rojas currently on my bench. Pretty sick farm for a win-now MLB roster.

Going to try being perpetually competitive instead of doing a compete/rebuild cycle?
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Connor Norby Masataka Yoshida Colt Keith Wilmer Flores Cole Young Angel Martinez Dominic Canzone Tekoah Roby Draft really didn't go as planned for me, but I ended up doing alright, as I didn't have that many picks going into the draft. Gave up my 1-2-3 2024 picks to make some acquisitions this year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 2B Termarr Johnson - PIT 2 1B Kyle Manzardo - TB 10 SP Tink Hence - STL 16 C Ethan Salas - SD 70 SP Luis Morales - OAK 90 SP Frank Mozzicato - KC 110 Pretty stacked draft at the top for me. Temarr Johnson perhaps a bit of a bold pick but I got good word on him and I know he was firmly in that 2022 draft class top 3 with everyone having different preferences with how to rank them. Manzardo apparently everyone wanted, and Hence looks like a stud. To cap it off I got the top IFA prospect (for whatever that's worth) and a couple of lottery ticket pitchers with boom or bust upside that will probably be dropped by the next draft. It didn't come cheap though, as Buehler and Conforto were shipped out in order to acquire two of those top picks. I think I'd comfortably trade Conforto for Tink Hence with the benefit of hindsight, the jury will be out for a bit on Johnson + injured pitchers for Walker Buehler.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 Going to try being perpetually competitive instead of doing a compete/rebuild cycle? yeah, no interest in going scorched earth ever, in any league
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I'm an old man! If you think I'm staying up til 1 am to make a 6th rd pick in DDL, you are dead wrong. We are all old at BJMB. Young people wouldn't be caught dead on a vBulletin based site. For dinosaurs.
GoldBull Verified Member Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Fun Draft! Always hate to do it, but I spent some of my early draft capital this year on some top tier relievers, which has been a big gap on my team the past few years. That said, happy to come away with a couple of borderline top 100 guys in the third round and lots of lottery tickets for the rest of the draft. Hopeful that 1-2 of them see a big jump this year. 49 - Alexander Ramirez 59 - Bryan Ramos 85 - Michael Burrows 89 - Nick Nastrini 92 - Yanquiel Fernandez 99 - Jud Fabian 105 - Anthony Gutierrez 109 - Griff McGarry 119 - Rayne Doncon
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I'm quite pleased with my little draft haul: 13 - Cam Collier 40 - Brandon Barriera 53 - Jordan Beck 62 - Felnin Celesten 73 - Sal Stewart - Collier at 13 was an absolute steal, but the draft was pretty loaded as has already been said. - I really wanted Lesko at 40, but happy to walk away with Barriera instead - a sweet consolation prize. - May have reached a tad on Beck, but I missed out on him in LoD and really wanted a share. At that stage of the draft, any consensus rankings can be tossed out the window anyway. - I typically avoid teenagers that are a half-decade away from sniffing the panties of the majors, but felt compelled to make an exception for Celesten. -Got Sal Stewart in both leagues and he seems to have an excellent bat (both hit and power), but he has a Pete Alonso body, so a roll of the dice for sure. Stoked to get him this late in the draft - MF can flat out rake.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Pretty sure waiver priority is messed up. I claimed Brantley a couple weeks ago and I'm at #2 now

As I mentioned I made a trade without paying close attention which turned out to be Chourio for Senga and Bleis. Happy I got Hjerpes, but the Blaze was way too early. Not 100% sure he should have been drafted at all, much less in the 3rd. My trade up for Bonilla was much more about convenience (and my scope went well, thanks for asking). This isn't the LoD. I don't intend for this rebuild to last long, which is why I traded down for Senga. I will be moving some big name prospects this year to try and build a pitching staff. Which does not mean send me offers today!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 I think waiver order needs to be fixed? Looks like it reset after the draft was completed
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 My draft was fine, but nobody I was hoping would fall to my picks really did. J Holliday C Williams J Ortiz. (I really wanted Cross here) G Graceffo Y Mercedes OK, but I am not as stocked as I had hoped at the start of it.

Went quite heavy on pitching, didn't really mind scratching some lotto tickets. Acquired picks 5-13 and 6-12 for future picks as there were many interesting names and I had space. Also acquired Asa Lacy and moved down 3-3 & 4-3 for 3-10 & 4-8. Traded away pick 1-2 and some arms I really liked for Buehler, hoping he gets healthy for 2024. Didn't really get sniped in this draft, had chances to take the guys I wanted aside from maybe 3-5 Gordon Graceffo (I was happy with Horton). See you guys in 12 months
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Prielipp was a steal... why you leaving, lol.
