A guy with an ERA around 5 most of the year isn't unplayable? News to me.

McCarthy's worst game xFIP was 4.47 and has only been over 4 in 3 starts.

Worst month was June with 3.02 xFIP... Even if he was getting ERA unlucky, his K/BB was elite for a starter.

 

xFIP isn't a fantasy stat. The K/BB was good but he didn't have value anywhere else.

I hope you don't bench a guy because ERA. Unplayable means they suck and you expect gas can. Couldn't say that about McCarthy.

 

No, I chose to not put myself in that position to begin with. O'Day has been great, and I don't regret moving McCarthy for him. I only regret Hughes.

Boxy is saying McCarthy didn't really contribute, so he doesn't regret trading him. Because he didn't accrue much/any fantasy value anyway, even though xFIP suggests that he should have.

No, of course not. I'd have played him most weeks expecting improvement, but looking back would you have been better off sitting him during most of the first half? Absolutely. It sucks that he was unlucky but it is what it is.

Holy s***, ROS SLG projections for Bogaerts:

 

ZiPS = 0.394

Steamer = 0.386

 

My worst player is projected to slug 10-20 points higher than my team's collective slugging % 20 weeks into the season. f*** this season so much.
