BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well at least you have Gyorko turning it around with a zesty .837 OPS over the last month. Ohhhhhh, wait... I don't feel bad about that. The entire league had weeks to make an offer on him, and nobody wanted to offer even a 2nd.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Anybody want to take a flier on Trevor Cahill? I'd like to move him today for a prospect that isn't completely terrible. He's only 26 and has had a sub-4 xFIP in 5 of the last 6 years, 3.69 this year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I remember trying to trade for Cahill sometime last season and he was untouchable. I won't name names. Pitchers!
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I see the Kyle Gibson experiment has ended.
torontofan Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Wada available for a pick if anyone is lookign for pitching reinforcements. Is it bad that I had no clue who Wada was?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Wow, rape job by North on the Shields deal.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Yeah, I really really like this for North.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Wow Shields hardly went for anything.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Two low minor fringe Top 50 guys and a late 1st? And 2nd going back with Shields? I really don't get this one. Shields has plenty of good years left and Cats Ass could easily have contended next year. Shields went for Ventura & Giolito this tome last year and he's just as good now.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Two certain top 100 prospects (both top 60 IMO) and a first-rounder. It's fair value. Two low minor fringe Top 50 guys and a late 1st? Peraza was almost called up recently with Andrelton out! Should see action next year.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 North respond to the basketball league invite you bike
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Peraza has a UTIL profile and Reyes has a walk problem. Neither is the elite prospect Shields should have returned.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 North respond to the basketball league invite you bike Will later today. At work.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well you guys should have offered more. I like the return. Both are guys that are better then what their rankings are. Alex Reyes was a 19 year old in A-ball, It's also a plus that he's a Card. Jose Peraza is the 2nd best 2B prospect behind only Mookie Betts.
torontofan Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I also really like this deal for North.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Oh, Darvish out for the season, you don't say. http://i.imgur.com/wPPXipB.gif http://cdn.niketalk.com/5/5e/5ee617d9_2whdlys.gif

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Pitchers! Can't rely on them, but can't win without them. f*** pitchers.
torontofan Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Joc Pederson becomes the first Pacific Coast League player in 80 years to join the 30-30 club and the 4th in PCL history.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Can't rely on them, but can't win without them. f*** pitchers. It really is tough to find a balance. I'm doing my best to be like the Cubs, stacking as much offensive talent as I can and then moving a couple pieces for some pitching when I'm ready to contend

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Wow Shields hardly went for anything. My thoughts exactly
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Good god, two teams have had a worse offense than me? That doesn't even seem possible. Really? You had actual doubts about my offense being worse than yours?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Really? You had actual doubts about my offense being worse than yours? You actually have a better team OPS than me this year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 You actually have a better team OPS than me this year. It's pretty crazy that this is even possible for a division contender in a league this deep.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 It's pretty crazy that this is even possible for a division contender in a league this deep. I feel very lucky to be going to the playoffs given how bad my players have been. But I feel very unlucky that so many of my players have s*** the bed. The baseball gods giveth, the baseball gods taketh away.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 This is the first time I've seen TCA make a bad deal (well, that is before Shields gets TJS next week)

This is probably a bad time to mention that Choo is having season-ending elbow surgery, huh?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 This is probably a bad time to mention that Choo is having season-ending elbow surgery, huh? Yeah, I saw that. I'm really hoping the ankle/elbow were behind the poor season and he's back to normal when healthy next year.
