He's a bum. Him and his weird attitude can frig off. I'm glad he helped them win the cup in 2019 but it seems he's had a complex ever since.

they have some ugly looking contracts right now if they are blowing it up.

I'd keep Kyrou, Thomas, Buchnevich, and be open for offers for everyone else. But like Laika said.. there's a few ugly contracts there.

IN their favour though, none of the contracts are overly gross to the point they are immovable if the Blues eat a bit of money. The real probalem is they all have a full NTC except Buchnevich, who has a 12 team NTC.

Barbashev is good, I wouldn't move him, yet.

 

He's a UFA at the end of the season, if its looking like they cant re-sign him, he's gotta go. Armstrong really screwed the pooch with some of the deals he made in the past few years after the cup win.

I think they just havent found a deal for him yet. He's been rather Bottom 6-ish the first few years of his career until last year when he suddenly seemed to remember where the net was and that he should shoot the puck at said net. Now this season he's a step back from that again.

 

Blues might be trying to trade him as a top 6, when he's probably truly a third line guy with fill-in top 6 skills. Still should be plenty of teams looking for that kind of depth for a stretch run though.

I’m thinking the Leafs really wanted to give that lead away in the 3rd. They stuck together for a pretty good win. Sammy’s recent play is getting concerning tho.

43 pts in 42 games this year suggests he's still a top 6 forward. 167 pts over his last 169 games.

Matthews starts at $13M+ AAV. I don't think he's going to sign for 8 years. I see maybe 3-4 years, then go for a massive deal when he's in his late 20's. The NBA model.

Nylander is going to want $10M+ AAV. If you can get him under $10M AAV I think you're doing well. He just keeps getting better every year. He probably still hasn't even hit his ceiling yet.

Nah, i think they're okay keeping Buchnevich, but Barbashev has to go. May as well try to get something for him, though I doubt it will be a 1st round pick like some think.

I dont think it's about the exact dollar value but it will be based aorund a % of whatever the overall salry cap will be. MacKinnon's new deal gives him just over 15% of the overall salary cap. If you take that same % and apply it to the estimated cap of 88 million for the 24/25 season... it would be 13.44 million.

 

The actual # will depend on what percentage they figure is reasonable and what the actual cap will be but... yeah 13 million is probably pretty close for the 24/25 season.

Inflation. That McDavid deal was signed several years ago. McDavid would get $15M today.
