Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Rumour is Vegas took on some salary to keep Brassard in the east specifically away from the jets Yup, it worked out.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I was tagged into Leaf Nation, I'm having fun trolling with logic, Geez... hockey fans are dumn. Like real dumn, lol.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 4 20... there's an answer.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 That's no goal for sure Yeah, shouldn't have counted, take it I guess.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Yeah, shouldn't have counted, take it I guess. Nobody knows the rule so whatever you think the right call is it will likely be the opposite
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Leafs acquire Tomas Plekanec and Bobby Baun's grandson, plus the Habs retain half of what Plekanec is still owed for the season for a 2nd rounder, Rinat Valiev, and Kerby Rychel.

I don't get this trade, I don't know much about Baun. but Valiev has a lot of talent, and Plekanec is meh... better than Moore, but whatever.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Nash pulled in a haul, nice trade for the Rangers, and Boston, yet they paid.

I don't care about the loss of Valiev and Rychel, but the 2nd rounder also? High price for a bottom 6 rental

Slot Machine Verified Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Nobody knows the rule so whatever you think the right call is it will likely be the opposite The one thing I've noticed is that if there is a time gap between the interference and the shot on goal (in this case only a few seconds), the goal is almost always held up as a "good goal". Even if the interference was bad enough that it really should've just been called a penalty in the first place. And alternatively if the interference happens as part of the shot on goal or at the same time, the goal is called back most of the time, even if the interference was extremely minor.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 The deal is just meh for me. Valiev and Rychel are just bodies as far as I'm concerned so I din't care about them. Baun is AHL depth... That's it. Basically it's Plekanec for 2nd. Unfortunately that's the going rate. The Leafs center depth was lacking so this gives them someone that might even be able to press Bozak for playing time. Someone who can play a defensive role that Babcock can trust. Especially with Matthews down for up to a month, and the Leads legitimately in a position to makes noise, it was a relatively cheap option for someone that can give you a useful 15 minutes to the middle. It's not a sexy move like Nash, but Nash is a glimmer of his former self. I think the Bruins overpaid badly there...I also think Ottawa got back way more than they should have for Brassard.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Get in there Paul Stastny..... Jets Offense is soooo Deep right now if we can just land a depth dman i like what we have going into the playoffs
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I kind of like the Ottawa return for Brassard: 2018 PIT 1st Filip Gustavsson 2020 COL 3rd Nick Moutrey The org might be a flaming pile of s***, but that seems reasonable.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Heading to Vegas in a bit to visit family and was thinking of checking out a Golden Knights game. I looked at the standings and they are in 1st place? Can someone explain to me how an expansion team could be in first place in its inaugural season? The NHL must have some pretty friendly expansion draft rules.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 But yeah, Vegas being first is hella-stupid. Mostly luck because they came into existence when a team was juggling two good goalies.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Ottawa apparently turned down a deal involving 3 1st round picks+ prospects for Karlson. ' Would have been cool if Vegas traded for him and they made a serious run
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Looks like Ottawa's rebuild consists of swapping Phaneuf for Gaborik and selling Derick Brassard.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 So Tampa looks pretty good.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Looks like Ottawa's rebuild consists of swapping Phaneuf for Gaborik and selling Derick Brassard. That's it? I guess nothing will happen at the draft or during the summer? That was a fast rebuild.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 That's it? I guess nothing will happen at the draft or during the summer? That was a fast rebuild. They don’t have their first rounder next year. I doubt major pieces move.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I don’t know any of this because I don’t follow hockey in depth but I like to believe that Vegas being in first is a product of them exploiting the fact that most of the NHL is in the prehistoric age when it comes to sports analytics. Imagine getting in a time machine and running a baseball expansion draft in the 70s with the sabermetric knowledge that we have right now about what makes players good. How good do you think your team could be? Also- what do you homos think of Rick Nash these days? I’m having trouble seeing how he fits in Boston.

I have no idea what hockey analytics would consist of. I've had a difficult time trying to find anything online.
