PK retired today along with Yandle and Chara. Congrats to all. Say what u want about Chara but the guy was a friggin beast his whole career and a pain in the ass for us Leafs fans. Lol. Kinda feel bad for Yandle being a part of the Flyers last year (Ironman) and I’m kinda surprised that PK didn’t give the Leafs a try at the league minimum, he’s only 33 but their must be some injury issues maybe. And maybe the Leafs just didn’t call.

I guess he would have been about 29 when he fell off the cliff. That's normal sports aging.

 

It just happened very quickly for him. With defenseman you tend to think of guys being able to stay useful into their mid 30s.

 

I guess Subban played more like a forward than a defenseman. Very reliant on speed

Speed/offence was a huge part of his game. Once that starts to fall a guy like Subban who's not very defensive minded becomes a liability. D-men like that usually tend to fall off a clif like that.

I see Sportsnet or Hockey Night hiring him for sure. He has a great personality and will fit well on TV.

One of the toughest defensemen and offensive threats on the powerplay as well. Chara was a game changer on the ice. Definitely on the first ballot.

Yup Robertson has played his way onto the team and they need that scoring depth. Curious to see how they get cap compliant to start the year, likely a 20 man roster? Might need to trade someone like Engvall.
