P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Calgary Flames bitches...what a game! I was at that game last night. The atmosphere was absolutely electrifying! The crowd was deafening on the Gaudreau and Backlund goals, especially. And of course the Red Mile after the game was a treat as always. I love this city.

I love this city. my brother has season tickets, but couldn't go to the game. I wish I lived in Calgary so I could go. I went to a round 3 game in 04 against the sharks. The rink was electric that night too!
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I'm jelly, the only Playoff game I saw was against the Devils, Leafs mustered up 13 shots on Brodeur and lost 1-0. Than there was all the Buffalo PO games I went to see, because Leaf tickets are outrageous.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Wow!! Crazy finish. Wild games are fantastic.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Crazy finish. Wild games are fantastic. The West are fantastic, agreed.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Rangers tie it up with 1:41 left
Frag Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Not sure if posted ITT, but there's a laughable rumour going around. The Leafs would trade Kessel+Kadri+3rd rd pick to the Canes for the 5th overall pick and Semin. I'm going to hazard a guess that a Canes fan on HFBoards started this "rumour".
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I know I'm late, but what exactly did Peter Chiarelli do to get fired? Just not getting enough for Seguin?
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I know I'm late, but what exactly did Peter Chiarelli do to get fired? Just not getting enough for Seguin? Basically that + maybe kept the roster too stagnant over the years
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Basically that + maybe kept the roster too stagnant over the years Seems like a pretty reactionary move to one missed playoffs after a pretty awesome 7-year run that included a championship. Is there really someone better out there waiting to be hired?

Is there really someone better out there waiting to be hired? Agreed, and I doubt it. It seems pretty likely to me that Chiarelli would have been fully capable of taking the missed playoffs as a wakeup call and altering his own process in a way that would please ownership and get them back there soon. They were easily a top 8 team in the conference this season based on talent, probably top 5. I don't follow hockey close enough to know anything about their AGMs or whether or not they might have someone qualified already in house.
Frag Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Basically that + maybe kept the roster too stagnant over the years That is partly his fault, since the team's cap was near the ceiling. However, it was so because the team made it to two Cup finals in the past 5 years.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I know I'm late, but what exactly did Peter Chiarelli do to get fired? Just not getting enough for Seguin? He's made some other bad moves too. The Kaberle trade was a disaster and he was also willing to give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Chris Phillips last year which scares me. I think he gets a ton of credit for that team when he got really lucky with Chara falling in his lap. He's probably an above average GM but not by much. Really hope he does well in Edmonton though.
