Mildly interesting - how the NHL actually conducts the draft lottery now.

 

The machine randomly picks four balls from a tumbler.

Each ball has a # on it.

Each four number combination has been pre-assigned a team.

The amount of combinations that a team is assigned as equal to their odds to win (obviously).

 

So it really is done like a lottery, and the teams with better odds just have more tickets.

 

The whole process is supervised by Ernst & Young.

I just watched the ESPN 30 for 30 on The Schedule Makers. It's a great story of how computers couldn't do the MLB schedule so this husband and wife did it for many years. Now that computers do it again...we get the s***** schedule we have now. It's a good watch...but then again so is every 30 for 30.
