Frag Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 My predictions: Eastern Montreal vs Ottawa - Montreal in 6 Tampa vs Detroit - Tampa in 5 New York Rangers vs Pittsburgh - Rangers in 7 Washington vs New York Islanders - Islanders in 6 Western St.Louis vs Minnesota - St. Louis in 7 Chicago vs Nashville - Chicago in 6 Winnipeg vs Anaheim - Anaheim in 5 Vancouver vs Calgary - Calgary in 6
Nox Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Pens suck. Rangers are the best team in the NHL by a pretty significant margin. They are the heavy favorites. Pens were lucky they played Buffalo in the last game or they would have missed the playoffs. Incorrect on basically all fronts.

Nox Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Running numbers or is there a little personal bias here? Anaheim is a slight favourite in reality. +EV on the Jets though in public markets.

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Bruins fire Chiarelli. Guy builds a solid 5 year contender that wins a cup and then makes another finals. One garbage trade and just missing the playoffs once and poof, done. Hockey is cruel. Leafs might have interest?
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Leafs should jump on Charelli.
Frag Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I'm probably going to get s*** for this, but I think Chiarelli has been pretty average aside from one good year, and that year was 2006 (2006 draft, signing Chara and Savard). His draft since 2006 consists of Seguin (idiot proof), Hamilton, and possibly Pastrnak, with some maybes in Colborne, Caron and Griffith. As for trades, his record is mixed: Good: Kessel trade Rask trade Boychuk for Hendricks Horton trade Bad: Seguin trade Boychuk trade Versteeg trade Kaberle trade (Leafs acted like idiots with their picks) Sobotka trade All that's left is his free agents, where I don't know his history as well beyond Chara and Savard. Overall, he seems like an okay GM who got really lucky with inheriting Bergeron and Thomas.

Generally he's been really good at filling out a complete roster though, with sneaky good guys like Krug, Peverley, Soderberg, etc. I think...
Frag Verified Member Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Check out my updated advanced stats and accompanying projections: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11hOH37TCFEIA5TRB_M5IPQhyUC6sL6slhlTDKLCe2DY/edit#gid=0 Projections have Tarasenko as best player in the game per TOI. I'm thinking Carey Price wins the Hart (and Vezina, of course), and the analytics seem to back that up.

The Soderberg trade was good, and Krug was a good pick-up. They got Peverley by trading Blake Wheeler, which is pretty much a wash (edge to Wheeler).

I guess Peverley helped them win a cup so it was worth it in the end.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Subban kicked out of the game for a slash on Stone...Stone ran to the dressing room and no word yet... 3-2 Montreal in a crazy game
