admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 As I mentioned on Chappy's board, do you guys want post counts from MLB board to carry over? On one hand people get to keep their post numbers. On the other hand it would also be nice to start everyone off at zero.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Nah, why invoke memories of the previous, derailed board? Start anew. No regrets. If we do, though, how would those of us who have been banned be credited with posts? I was up at about 986 before I got randomly banned, so I'm about ~1179 sans banning, and I know a lot of other guys who got randomly banned would like their true post counts. Still, I would rather starting anew.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I vote no Hate leaving those 12,000 posts behind
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 No. But I want my best poster awards carried over
admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 At first I liked carrying it over, but then thinking about it I like the idea of starting fresh. But at the same time some of those with big post counts might really want them. I can't see ECJF abandoning his. No. But I want my best poster awards carried over That's actually a good idea. At years end we can do forum adwards and guys will get "badges" under their names for the following season.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Just an idea, shouldn't this thread be under "Off topic," not "Blue Jays?"
admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Just an idea, shouldn't this thread be under "Off topic," not "Blue Jays?" Gonna be the first one banned I see! Jk, I just wanted this to be seen by everyone. Other stuff will be in that forum.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Gonna be the first one banned I see! Jk, I just wanted this to be seen by everyone. Other stuff will be in that forum. Hey, it'd be an achievement lol. Yeah, that's probably smart, now that I think about it.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 At first thought I wanted it to carry over but I voted No, It's time for a clean start. I'm sure this won't be a problem here but let's just keep it clean and moderated here. It's hard to stomach the old board.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I don't really care either way, but this is a new message board and I believe it should stand as such. Carrying over post counts is pointless and this is coming from someone with over 8K posts. A fresh new start seems more fitting.
admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Okay, let's start fresh then. I think it's best that way as well, after reading replies and thinking about it. Just wasn't sure if some guys with high post counts would want them still.
Jays Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I said 'no' because I had about 20 posts on the old board. (as gojays2013)
bzapple Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Doesn't matter to me. I was thinking of getting myself banned once I got to 10k anyway lol.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Pretty difficult for me to say goodbye to 50K posts.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Yes please! 17+k in 13 months is an achievement for me! Would love it to be carried over!
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I don't think it would be fair to those who were banned on the other board. And it seems like with the trolls on the other board it was easy to rack up the posts, a lot of them were just two or three words. The value of a post on the old board is less than one on this board.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I don't know why people get so caught up in post counts anyways?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 it's the same s***, I don't even care
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I think some sort of badge to recognize 10k+ posts or whatever on the old board would be cool, but it's not a big deal.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 At first I liked carrying it over, but then thinking about it I like the idea of starting fresh. At years end we can do forum adwards and guys will get "badges" under their names for the following season. That's a really cool idea. I have made those threads the past 3 years I think, in November. I got laid off shortly after the voting began, so I had a lot on my plate and never ended up tallying the vote, but I can go back and do that if people want.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I don't know why people get so caught up in post counts anyways? It lets you know who the best posters are, like dogg and ECJF.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Don't care. Post counts are for glory seeking douchecanoes.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 It lets you know who the best posters are, like dogg and ECJF. Your right, I don't know what I was thinking.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Speaking of the dogg, what the f*** is he even going to do with his time? That board consumed his life for a decade. Killing spree?
NiagaraJaysFan Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Killing spree? He must be so depressed.
