Maybe now we might not have the 100's of trying to figure out "who Moh really is" responses and what alias' he might have. Trying to figure out the trolls already drove one poster insane, not sure why so many fixate on it and can't respond to them about baseball only. It's the best way to deal with them, IMO.

 

Agreed. This board is pretty clean in terms of spamming, especially when we're fairly active in merging/moving/deleting threads. Trolls don't have the power to spam like they once did on the old forum and the only thing that feeds them is people getting sucked into their conversations. Doesn't matter now anyways, cause if that guy or any other new poster resembling him comes back the ban hammer will show no mercy.

We can check IP's and do, but that's not perfect. People post from different parts of town. Sometimes obviously different members show up non the same IP address.

 

Good thing with this guy is that his style is so recognizable. Like metallijay it's obvious when it's him.

And, as it were, my "ban worthy" post turned into a self fulfilling prophesy - the mods apparently are complete.... well, you know.

 

Sorry dude. You just happened to be the person who said the wrong thing at the wrong time. You're a quality poster on here. It wasn't personal. At all. Just like I know your posts about mods being dumb and pussies wasn't either.

 

Here's the thing. We skate a fine line. some people just want to let anything go. Some people want any mildly annoying poster banned. Obviously you have to work somewhere in between. We try to be tolerant. But there are times you can just feel the place getting out of control. It happened a few months ago with metallijay and twisted logic. It started feeling like that again the last few days. I will fully admit that moh you has been BIG part if that - not because he's done much truly ban worthy. More because he gets people riled up and so many people start acting crazy. Some people yelling to ban people. Others yelling we can't do that. Some of the borderline posters saying that we treat the long term regulars better and let them get away with more. Others yelling that the mods never do anything. Its a s*** show.

 

Anyhow I drew a line last night and said that purposely disruptive posts will result in short term bans. You shook the cage. I tried to PM you but for some reason that we can't figure out your receiving PM function isn't working. You did it again. I banned you. Not because it was you. Not specifivally because you called the mods pussies (I have thicker skin than that). But because you were deliberately stirring s*** up right when we had decided we needed to crack down on it. The truth? I didn't want to ban you. I wanted it to be M Y or CHP that provoked it but I couldn't let it slide right after I had stated our intentions.

 

Sorry bro. No hard feelings. And yeah you're more infamous now than ever.

The best way to affect this goal, while still maintaining a modicum of fairness may be with stronger penalties for repeat offenses.

 

This would allow us to gradually get rid of the troublemakers without having to make on the spot quick ban decisions like I did last night.

 

For the reasons noted above we can't always tell who new accounts are made by. If Dogg makes s new account and keeps himself to clean baseball discussion we may not realize its him but that's fine. If he comes back with the same BS we should act more promptly.

Yeah. Some (probably many) people's IP's are also somewhat dynamic, changing some times every few days when settings are re-negotiated with the service provider.
