TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Montero will prove you all wrong. He'll not only hit for power in the majors, you'll see a .350 OBP out of him against all handedness. In other news the Montreal Baseball feasibility survey comes out today at 10:30 and just got some heavy support from my boy Scott Boras
8D Verified Member Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 So what happened with Montero? Exposed at the major league level, with no real solution in sight? Post roids?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 So what happened with Montero? Exposed at the major league level, with no real solution in sight? Post roids? Went to the M's...where he was told to "pull dat ball" and swing for power. He stopped taking pitches. I'll admit he needs to be put into a scenario where he can see more fastballs, but if that happens you'll see him thrive in this league

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Phillies Have Agreement With Back-Of-Rotation Starter By Steve Adams [December 12, 2013 at 8:55am CST] Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters, including Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly, that he has an agreement in place with a free agent starting pitcher (Twitter link). Though he didn't specify the name of the pitcher, as the deal is pending a physical, the Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb reported that it was a back-of-the-rotation type of arm (on Twitter). Gelb notes on Twitter that the Phillies have had interest in Jerome Williams, who would fit Amaro's description, though it's not certain that he's the starting pitcher in question. Whoever the "mystery player" is will fall in line behind Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Kyle Kendrick, with Cuban signee Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez serving as a rotation option for manager Ryne Sandberg as well.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Gose and Sanchez for Hamels? I cringe as I say yes
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Would you really though? If AA did Gose and Sanchez for Hamels we'd all be bouncing off the walls for the rest of the offseason. Really? I think everyone has given up on Gose ever being an average everyday player and trading Sanchez for an ace isn't really all that much. Hamels isnt the broken down case Johnson was
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Ruggiano is gone. f***.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Bouncing off the walls is a positive term! If I were AA I'd go on a two-week vacation after accepting. Hamels (and a second base upgrade) would make this team a favourite again. O haha yea i totally misinterpreted what you said obviously. There's no way Amaro accepts that given his value on players but a top 50 prospect and former top 50 prospect for a star pitcher on a FA type deal/extension wouldn't be a massive steal. I'd love the deal nonetheless.

Amaro is in his own little world when it comes to a player's value. If Toronto can up the payroll then trading for one of those two seems like a good opportunity to add an ace, but it takes two to make a deal

But he makes the team so mcuh better that I do it for sure.

He is still in his prime and although it's big money, he should be solid for several more seasons.

It's well under market value and worth paying real assets for.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Yankees turned down a trade offer from Reds Brandon Phillips for Brett Gardner Per ESPN radio Brett Gardner is an elite player. He would have been a great fit as their CF.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 True Hamels @22.5 >>> Garza/Jiminez/etc @ 16-18M Without a doubt. That's a legit ace and it makes our rotation so much better where Dickey becomes #2 in terms of talent. Not a bad 1-2 punch at all.
