There was a discussion on this a few weeks back. I'm pretty much expecting them to keep Cano, sign Choo/Hart/Cruz, sign a pitcher, and maybe trade for Headley or something.

The last time they missed the playoffs they added CC, Burnett, and Tex. With the money coming off the books, they're going to make huge additions I think.

The last time the Yankees went out to add CC, Burnett and Tex they won the World Series. They missed the playoffs in 2008.

Also this is really only a 6 year extension as they had a 2015 option on him and he's getting the same amount in that year.

It's still an 8 year deal. They added 6 years onto the deal after his 31st birthday. I like Pedroia but 8 more years after this season is just asking for trouble.

That being said it is a great PR move for them.

Has anyone else noticed that Kolton Wong has been a healthy scratch the last 2 games. Looks like he could be moving soon.....

I really hope AA is all over this. We badly need a second basemen for next year and Wong is looking like he could be real good.

Alex Cobb just left his rehab start against Dunedin after throwing just 2 pitches. Holding his right hand he called for the trainer.

Jon Heyman says that's false:

I'm getting pretty sick of these types of rumours, so much misinformation.

Thanks bro

I told you that Enrique is a moron, right? --- f*** Enrique.

f*** everyone. Baseball 'journalism' doesn't exist. These guys will publish anything.

That's why I only trust Rosy and Morsoi and sometimes the ESPN dudes (Onley and Bowden)

Holy s***, Amaro is a disaster, Minaya is like Goku in front of him.

Amaro is very similar to Fat Alice, actually. They both share a bizarre fetish for adding old washed-up vets in the hopes that they'll just rebound to their career-best production, and they both are too fraidy-scared to blow up their overpaid and underachieving teams. And no, Amaro isn't responsible for the Phillies' championship - that was Ed Wade and Pat Gillick's doing.

Whats up with Verlander? Guys is going the Ricky Romero route. Amazing how getting dumped by a hottie can kill your MLB career.

Jake Marisnick continues to struggle against MLB pitching--

0-12, 4 Ks, 0 BBs.

Stupid Marlins.. this guy isn't close to MLB ready. He's only up because Ozuna tore a thumb ligament. Marisnick should be in AA.. even though he hit well in AA, he also Kd at close to a 25% rate as well, and hasn't even played in AAA.

Rays top pitching prospect Taylor Guerrieri having Tommy John surgery today

Osuna is next

I know this is a day old, but wouldn't Oddorizzi (sp?) be the Rays' top pitching prospect?

Atlanta looking for SP options with Tim Hudson going down, this is the time when AA should call offering up JJ.

Wouldn't be surprised if they already had some preliminary discussions. The anticipation is just so frustrating because I am hoping AA pulls off a couple deals with the excess relievers and JJ and/or Buehrle, but its a very real possibility nothing happens either.

Cubs Sign Jen-Ho Tseng; Jimenez Likely To Sign Next Week

The Cubs have signed 18-year-old Taiwanese right-hander Jen-Ho Tseng for a $1.625MM bonus, according to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez (on Twitter). Sanchez adds that top international prospect Eloy Jimenez, who agreed to terms with the Cubs earlier this month, will officially sign with the team next week.

Sanchez ranked Tseng as the No. 29 prospect in this year's international crop, noting that his broad frame bodes well for future durability. Tseng's fastball touches 95 mph and sits comfortably in the low 90s, according to Sanchez, who adds that Tseng also has a feel for a curveball and slider. Tseng continued to draw interest from the Twins even after the initial reports that he was nearing a deal with the Cubs surfaced on July 9.

The Cubs have already signed Gleyber Torres for $1.7MM, Jefferson Mejia for $850K, Erling Moreno for $650K and Johan Matos for $270K, and their agreement with Jimenez is for $2.8MM. Despite having acquired additional bonus money from the Orioles and Astros, the Cubs are on pace to vastly exceed their $5.52MM international bonus pool.

One of the few teams that could be interested in a JJ + Boni package.

Jason Grilli now projected to miss between 1 and 2 months. Needless to say, look for Pirates to become more involved in pen market.

AA dot it bitch, Delabar or Janssen
