Would have liked to see Kennedy's suspension be a little longer since he can appeal until the day after he starts, drop it, and basically only miss a little more than one turn in the rotation. Still, glad to see it has a little meat on it.

Dodgers Designate Ramon Hernandez For Assignment

The Dodgers have designated Ramon Hernandez for assignment, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times (on Twitter). The move allows the Dodgers to re-instate A.J. Ellis from the disabled list and keep Tim Federowicz on board as a backup.

trade for Hernandez, JPA to Buffalo

Hernandez is actually significantly better than Arencibia in essentially every way.

*I* am significantly better than Arencibia in ever way but "close my eyes and swing and if I make contact it goes far". That's not saying much.

Mariners Sign Blanco; Designate Shoppach For Assignment

By Steve Adams [June 14, 2013 at 3:03pm CST]

The Mariners have issued a press release announcing that they have signed veteran Henry Blanco to a Major League contract and designated Kelly Shoppach for assignment.

Blanco, 41, is joining his 11th different Major League team. The veteran hit just .184/.262/.263 in 15 games (43 plate appearances) for the Blue Jays this season before being designated for assignment and ultimately released on Tuesday. He's seen time with the Cubs, D-backs, Braves, Brewers, Twins, Mets, Rockies, Dodgers, Padres and Blue Jays previously. Blanco owns a career batting line of .226/.291/.366.

Shoppach, 33, hit .196/.293/.346 with three homers in 35 games for the Mariners this season. He's been leaned upon heavily since the demotion of Jesus Montero, but rookie Mike Zunino figures to get the lion's share of playing time from this point forward. In his career, the right-handed-hitting Shoppach has hit .261/.355/.501 in 641 plate appearances against left-handed pitching.

Shoppach or Hernandez are both probably better than JPA.

That is the saddest thing that's ever happened in Shoppach's life..

Getting DFA'd for Henry f***ing Blanco. ouch.

I'd have no issue with a Shoppach/Thole platoon.

If they DFA'd Shoppach for Blanco and they demoted Ackley....

can we claim Shoppach and throw Arenciba + Romero for Ackley ++?? If the Mariners are this dumn

They could have had Romero for free.

They would be hooked for his salary. For Fatcow's proposal to work it'd probably be something like

Romero + Arencibia + prospect + Romero's salary for Ackley + Shoppach + low level prospect (maybe Marder would work?)

I don't figure the prospect/low level prospect would be a factor...

It's not, I'm just assuming that's how the deal would look if it went down. The main factor is Romero's salary being sent back.

The main factor would be getting rid of JPA :P

Back to the DL for Youk. Back problems again. He could be out a while. Adams goes back to 3B, Neal and Chris Bootcheck(hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009!) purchased from SWB.

Things are falling apart in NY fast..

Can't wait for games against them

Of course I said that earlier this year too and... Didn't go so well. :(

Porcello with 4 k's through his first 2 innings. 20 pitches.

LOL Dinger's in trouble.

I can't lie though, I thought Porcello would be pretty mediocre before the start of the season too.

Everyone on the Tigers has crazy strikeouts, it's weird. Doug Fister was a Safeco mirage, and now he's a #2 starter who gets his share of Ks. Scherzer was all over the place, now he an elite K guy who also barely walks anyone. Tigers are almost on the Cardinals level of pitching development.

Yep lol. We should loan Brandon Morrow to the Tigers and get him back at the end of the season. They could fix him.

Morrow 2011

10.19 K/9, 3.3WAR (2013 - 6.96K/9)

Scherzer 2011

8.03 K/9, 2.6WAR (2013 - 10.56 K/9)

Ridiculous, kid is a beast, would love to have a pitcher like him in our rotation, is our fastest lefty starter Buerhle? That's pretty sad though he gets results in his own way.
