kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Same with KC, 18k and they are 17-11. I think the fans here, aside from the true die hards, are waiting to see if the Royals are the real thing. They've dealt with an absolute s*** owner and a pretty bad team for so long now that they're understandably skeptical. If the Royals are still doing well by the end of the month, and into June, I could see attendance increasing significantly. Also, if I recall from my high school days, schools don't get out until near the end of May, so I expect that more families will be bringing their kids to the game once that happens. We've also had some pretty uncharacteristically cold weather for this late into the year, so that could also be contributing to the lower attendance.

I can't remember, don't they have a great park there too? Nevermind it's old. I don't know who I was thinking of with a newer park.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Kauffman is a gorgeous park, and they just spent $250 million to renovate it four years ago.
admin Site Manager Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Kauffman is a gorgeous park, and they just spent $250 million to renovate it four years ago. Okay, that's what it is. I thought they had a nice new park, but then looked up the year and seen it was old, so thought I was wrong. Makes sense now.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 The Cubs will have a new Stadium. The city don't want to remodel the Wrigley field The county passed a sales tax to fund the renovations here because David Glass is a cheap sonofabitch, and if I recall correctly, there were veiled threats of moving the team if we didn't fund the renovations.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 The Pirates scratched James McDonald from his start on Tuesday night and placed the right-hander on the 15-day disabled list with discomfort in his throwing shoulder.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I really don't think Wrigley is a dump like some say. Admittedly I was drinking at 9:30 when I went this time. I think the biggest issue is that it only houses 41K
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 is there a more unsettling term than shoulder discomfort? Tricep inflammation?

Bauer throwing a no hitter (3 walks) through 5 against Charlotte. I kinda wanted him in the offseason.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Bauer throwing a no hitter (3 walks) through 5 against Charlotte. He gets pulled after 6.2 no hit innings, at 106 pitches. They are playing a double header so I'm pretty sure he was just literally yanked 1 out from a no-no.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Trevor Bauer in 174 minor league innings: 1.310 WHIP 2.95 ERA 7.7 H/9 0.7 HR/9 4.1 BB/9 11.6 K/9 2.84 K/BB Gio Gonzalez in 684 minor league innings: 1.264 WHIP 3.58 ERA 7.3 H/9 0.8 HR/9 4.1 BB/9 10.3 K/9 2.54 K/BB Obviously they compare well based on the minor league numbers. The question is, what percentile projection would Gio be for Trevor Bauer? (Assuming Gio is a ~3 WAR pitcher with a ~5 WAR peak). 75th percentile?

Things starting to get real in Boston. going through a rough patch, injuries creeping up, Jays need to keep playing well here.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Things starting to get real in Boston. going through a rough patch, injuries creeping up, Jays need to keep playing well here. Regression to the mean
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Afraid so. And Ciriaco's a terrible 3B/SS--he committed 2 errors to blow the game wide open--6-0 Minnesota now.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Also, their 3B options in the minors are minimal--Brock Holt(not a natural 3B), Drew Sutton and Ryan Dent are in Pawtucket right now.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Clarification--It'd be likely Brock Holt. Sutton's on the DL, Dent's not an option, Drew can't move to 3B, and Justin Henry, a former 3B, is now in the OF. Regression to the mean?
