    This is hilarious. I love Soto. I think he's the best hitter in the game. But Vlad isn't far behind. Soto took 2 teams to the WS did he? He didn't have any help with that?

    So you don't like Vladdys defence and base running but you were OK with them offering Soto 760 million? He's got the same warts. Both guys can rake. You can't be OK with Soto at 760 but then not Vlad at 60-70% of that.

    Why would you even consider cheering for him to have a down year just so Shatkins looks better? Are you a Jays fan, or a Shatkins fan? For posters like you and Brownie19, it's obvious your more of a Shatkins fan than Jays fan.

    How can anyone blame Vlad here? He's said for years he's wanted to play his entire career here. This front office has never seriously tried to sign him. Their only attempt was an insulting offer. These guys offered Soto and Ohtani 700+ million. There's no way Vlad asked for that kind of money, but obviously he deserves 400+ if they offered Soto 700+. This is all on the F/O. Just add it to the top of a long list of screw ups.

    Totally agree with you. This is just sad. I bet the Jays didn't even offer 400 million. I hope the numbers are leaked so we'll know for sure. Reading Atkins chatgpt-like quotes the other day about it made me want to poke pencils into my eyes.

    I was at this game sitting about 10 rows behind home plate. One of my top 10 Jays memories: Jays were down 8-6, Berg leading off the inning I believe, and I told my buddy who wasn't a huge baseball fan "Oh no, Dave Berg sucks" just as everyone around me told me I was on the Jumbotron. I looked up and I was zoomed in on the Jumbotron and everyone could probably read my lips. He then has this long at bat where he fouls off all those pitches off Guardado before hitting a 330ft screamer that just got over the bullpen wall down the LF line to make it 8-7. Next up, Vernon hits a single, and then Delgado blasts a first pitch HR to dead CF off the windows restaurant. What an ending. Thanks Dave Berg!

    While I don't share the same opinion on not extending Vlad, I can see where you're coming from, as he isn't a premium position. Heck after 2023 I wasn't sure whether I wanted him extended. But after last season I changed my mind. I just can't imagine him in another uniform, so I hope Rogers just ponies up for him.

    Apparently? I'm not engaging in any name calling. I'm just defending myself from the same 4 posters who don't like me having a differing viewpoint than them even though the vast, vast majority of Jays fans agree with me. Every single time I see a poll posted by a major media site not named sportsnet more than 90% of the fanbase wants Shatkins gone, so I'm not out to lunch on this. I'm just glad that ownership has saved the offseason for us. Sorry the thread has gone the way it has the past 27 or whatever posts.

    Why do you keep doing this to posters? Your self righteous act is getting old. People can like the Blue Jays but not like Atkins. The only reason the Jays will be competing this year is because ownership is willing to spend whatever it takes. That's great news, but in my opinion other GMs would give Rogers more bang for their buck. Go ahead and disagree, that's fine. But stop ridiculing people for not agreeing with you.

    Ed has got to extend Vlad. Would be weird if we add another bat and excitement is through the roof all season but at the same time have the lack of a Vlad contract being a distraction. Gotta tie up that loose end.
