  1. Ok but at least they have a WS to show for and how many straight NL East titles did they win? We've got....nothing. Nothing to show for it and nothing in the cupboards
  2. Yeah it was a very poor choice by Rogers to hire Shapiro. But on the plus side they have opened the purse strings to new payroll heights and seem to really want to win. I'm OK with Rogers as owners as long as they hire the right guy to run the team. They have the money, so go out and hire the next Friedman or (gasp) Anthopoulos. Stay out of the way, let them rebuild from the ground up properly, and support them with a top tier payroll when necessary so we can build and keep a strong team together and add when necessary. I'm willing to go into the wilderness on a complete teardown if its done by the right person. These buffoons in charge right now just continue to make the worse decisions again and again. At least there would be a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now only darkness. Its almost like they are actively trolling the Blue Jays fan base sometimes. They just continually take the wrong fork in the road whenever a decision needs to be made.
  3. At the major league level sure. But Nate Pearson, Ricky Tiedemann, Eric Pardinho among others say hi.
  4. Shapiro is the biggest problem in my opinion. His hirings have been terrible. Atkins. Montoyo. Schneider. Scouting. Development. Whoever is staffing the high performance department. We may have the best facilities in the sport in Dunedin but clearly not the best people running them as our pitchers are always hurt and we aren't drafting and developing stars. Shapiro is the problem and always has been. He hires dumb people and sticks with them. How he was portrayed in Moneyball may not be far from the truth. He's good at renovating stadiums but an empty stadium is still an empty stadium if you don't have a team good enough to attract the fans. The shine will wear off the renovations pretty quickly. Time to clean house from top to bottom and that starts with the President.
  5. Blue balls I absolutely love your avatar
  6. Chris Antonetti. Maybe Chernov too. We got the wrong guys from Cleveland in first place.
  7. Ownership has committed to being with the big boys in payroll which is great. I think what jays24 means is ownership is pretty stupid to allow Shatkins to keep running this team.
  8. Chat GPT: Ross Atkins turning his wife down might go something like this: His wife says, "Hey, can we watch a movie tonight?" Ross, with a thoughtful expression, replies, "I’m going to have to evaluate the long-term value of that offer... Let me circle back with you after I analyze our options." She sighs, "I just asked if you wanted to watch a movie!" Ross responds, "Exactly. It’s all about finding the right fit for the evening."
  9. Chat GPT will cheer everyone up! ChatGPT tell me a joke about Ross Atkins, Mark Shapiro and Alex Anthopolous: "Ross Atkins, Mark Shapiro, and Alex Anthopoulos walk into a bar. The bartender asks, "What’ll it be, gentlemen?" Anthopoulos orders a top-shelf whiskey, Shapiro orders a steady, reliable lager, and Atkins spends 20 minutes explaining why they need a collaborative process to decide on a drink. By the time they agree, the bar’s closed."
  10. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a troll. Looking at you Terminator and Brownie
  11. I've got your back bro. I've agreed with a lot of your viewpoints and from what I've seen you've been the more mature poster who doesn't resort to name calling. On the contrary you are overly nice to these guys who continually s*** on you.
  12. How can you say that Ash/JP were worse than these guys? Ash and JP never had anywhere near the payroll allotment that these f***s have been given. All of them suck is my point. I miss AA. And how is jaysblue the troll here? He doesn't say a quarter of the stuff that others do on here. I don't think he's a troll at all. You guys just like to bully him.
  13. The day Shatkins gets fired it's going to be a national holiday
  14. What the Jays should do now: Completely gut the management, then start the rebuild. Gausman & Berrios would be worth more than usual if traded in this market. Even Bassett should have some positive value without us having to eat some of his contract. Jays could maximize asset acquisition if they started the rebuild now. No way in hell these clowns should be allowed to handle the rebuild though.
  15. No one is longing for the days of JP or Ash. Those times weren't great. I'm simply saying this current regime is so bad that they are worse than those 2, who we have always used as a measuring stick as the worst GM's the Jays have had. These guys are worse than them, we actually had more hope under them, which is so sad. We haven't hit rock bottom yet. Wait until Ross extends Varsho...
  16. I'm sorry but that's just not the case. I've read this board enough over the past year or so to know that some posters seemed willing to go through a wall for this front office. A lot has changed, but those like jaysblue and jaysfan or whatever his/her name is have been calling out the front office the longest and took a lot of flak from certain posters. I don't want to start an argument with those posters who turned out to be wrong. But max silver and Brownie are still defending this management. And Max, you seem to remember things differently than me. Back then it was tough, but there was more hope and we had better players. And you are wrong about no playoffs under current playoff format. in 1998 AND 1999 (under Ash I acknowledge) Jays would have won the wild card under the current format. And in 2003 they would have tied for the final wild card spot. 2000 and 2006 they would have been 2 games out. 5 games out in 2007. 3 games out in 2010. So I would argue we had more to cheer for in that era than you seem to remember. And doing all of that on a show string budget against the big bad Yankees and Red Sox. You act like they were a perennial last place team for 23 years. These guys today have a way bigger budget. And 9 years. And it's never looked more hopeless than it does now. Sorry to disagree Max, but I strongly disagree.
  17. Agree 100%. It's a dark, long tunnel right now, and I can't see a light at the end.
  18. They would have made the playoffs under JPR several times with the current playoff format. As for the Marlins trade, EVERYONE had the Jays as WS favorites afterwards. Injuries happened. It was the most exciting time period for us in years when it happened. This IS the worst period in my fandom and sorry but it's not close. All of my buddies feel the same way and we've been hardos for years. I'm not arguing the Ash and JP years weren't tough but I always felt like there was something to look forward to. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. It's pitch black now because 2 of the worst executives in Toronto sports history have f***ed it up worse than anyone could have imagined. And they are smug as s*** about and act like they are smarter than everyone else. They clearly are not. As for the 23 years with no playoffs, (not 27 but good try) we usually had really good prospects, many who became stars (Delgado, Green, Wells, Stewart, Halladay, Escobar, Carpenter) and acquired guys like Clemens, Canseco, Cruz Jr, Burnett, Rolen, Glaus, etc. despite playing with a payroll 1/3 of the Yankees. Now we have a payroll that lets us compete with the big boys yet we don't have the team to match it. There is no Delgado, Green, Wells, Halladay coming. There were players who could have been them but our development system failed them. They haven't signed Vlad or Bo to team friendly deals like they should have. We lead the league in fat players and that's about it. These guys have completely f***ed this team up. If you want to hang your hat on 3 s***** wildcard spots without a win in an expanded playoffs where we papered over our drafting/development mistakes by jacking payroll through the roof well that's great. My grandmother could have built a playoff team with cheap Vlad and Bo and $230 million. As for me, I'm not wasting any more of my money or summers on this team until I feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If they fire Shatkins tomorrow and hire a competent GM and start a proper rebuild I'm right back in, but I can't waste any more time following these losers. I can't believe some of you are still desperately believing in Shapiro and Atkins. It's over, they have failed. Miserably.
  19. I've lurked here long enough to know not to take your bait, chum.
  20. Hey all, I have zero hope until they cut the head off the snake. Shapiro has to go, NOW. New Prez, new GM, new development system. We are currently the laughing stock of baseball, no one takes our front office seriously. We don't have a single prospect you can say seriously has a chance of being a star. Imagine AA had stayed and been allowed to have this much payroll. At least that guy could build a farm system. Made the massive Marlins deal for 2013, was able to rebuild the farm to grab JD before 2015 season, and then acquire Price, Tulo, and all the others for 2015's magical run. That guy could build a farm system quickly. These clowns have had 9 years and it's in worse shape than when they got here. How dare Shapiro criticize AA's farm system. How f***ing dare he. These are the darkest days of the franchise of my lifetime, and I've been a fan since 1988. All of my 40-something buddies feel the same way. Fed up if this gross incompetence. I won't spend a f***ing dime on this team until they get rid of Shapiro/Atkins and rebuild this team with a competent front office. That is all. /End rant
