  1. Nobody is questioning that Murphy will bring more than Jansen. The report is that the A's asked for Nootbaar + Donovan + Graceffo. The Jays asked for Nootbaar or Helsley only. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/sean-murphy-trade-rumors-athletics-asking-price-nootbaar-donovan-cardinals.html
  2. Do I have to read for you as well? One industry source believes the Cardinals never engaged on outfielders Lars Nootbar and Dylan Carlson and tried to make a deal with closer Ryan Helsley instead.
  3. Here it is https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/as-winter-meetings-come-to-a-close-blue-jays-opt-to-wait-out-other-opportunities/sn-amp/
  4. Don't worry. The Mets will give Rodon 9/270.
  5. Just looked up position players over 35 and above last year. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=150&type=8&season=2022&month=0&season1=2022&ind=0&team=&rost=&age=36,58&filter=&players=&startdate=&enddate= Jose Abreu (35) was excellent over a full season Matt Carpenter(36) and Albert Pujols(42) had dead cat bounce seasons and were excellent in limited PAs. Justin Turner(37) was an above average MLB player over a full season. Longoria(36), Brandon Crawford(35), and Brantley (34-35) were average MLB player over limited PAs. Donaldson(36) and Carlos Santana(36) were below average MLB players over a full season. 14 players were replacement level or below. With the exception of Pujols (who was below replacement for 4 straight years prior) and Turner, nobody over 36 produced above replacement level performance.
  6. Let's see what we actually get. The Frelick suggestion was great. FO looking for Nootbaar or Helsley is a good sign.
  7. Projections have high variatiance especially for players like Grisham whose historical performance ranges widely. His numbers have been trending down over the past two years. Can he recover? Sure. But we shouldn't use our best trading chips for a reclamation project.
  8. WTF? So many players will be getting 20M - 40M into their late 30s. How many productive position players are over 36?
  9. Kim is good. Grisham is god damn awful. He completely forgot how to hit and it shows in statcast numbers. Jansen generated 2.6 WAR in 248 PA. He can easily surpass 4 WAR if stays healthy. His health issues are not related to a chronic problem so he is more likely than not to actually produce 4+ WAR.
  10. Correction: Dumb people have been arguing for Grisham. Grisham is s***. He is a 4th OF at best. Do you think the FO who asked for Nootbaar or Helsley for Jansen would settle for f***ing Grisham?
  11. Jesus Christ. Why don't we add Bo and Manoah too?
  12. Finally something we agree on as a return for Jansen.
  13. I meant for SD, it is probably more like 10%.
  14. While I think this is a major overpay, it is more like 10% of budgets today and will likely become even less by the middle of the contract's life.
  15. I hope all the big spenders tie 25M+ over 10+ years to middle infielders this off-season. This might help reduce Bo's options in a couple of years.
  16. Very encouraging to see the FO seeking this return.
  17. How about a middle ground? Start bitching when we are a month away from ST?
  18. I would build a statue for Atkins if he can get Luzardo for Jansen.
  19. Everyone goes through valleys and peaks. The claim was that only had 70 games of high performance when he had closer to a full season worth of games for a catcher.
  20. I did. 124 wRC+. How terrible despite removing his most recent data points. The reason I picked the original period is because it corresponds to updating his glasses.
  21. 117 good games since May 2021. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/danny-jansen/16535/splits-tool?splitArr=&splitArrPitch=&position=B&autoPt=false&splitTeams=false&statType=player&statgroup=2&startDate=2021-05-01&endDate=2022-11-01&players=&filter=&groupBy=career&wxTemperature=&wxPressure=&wxAirDensity=&wxElevation=&wxWindSpeed=&sort=-1,1 Now go back to fapping to Kirk's titties.
  22. If he had a good health track record. I doubt he gets more than 6 years which would be required to crack 200M.
  23. This is good news. I hope the Blue Jays do not budge on the price for their catchers.
  24. At these rates, Blue Jays should bite the bullet and give Rodon 150M over 5 years.
