  1. Dude, you have to wait at least 10 years for all the prospects to percolate up before you can put together a good bullpen. Don’t you know anything….
  2. The problem isn’t that we have a rays manager. The problem is that we don’t have the rays front office. Our front office is not even in the same f***ing universe of competence. Managers are irrelevant compared to the FO.
  3. We need to spend big at this deadline to fix the pitching. And the next one and the next one until we run out of farm and our window closes because we can’t produce our own pitching or put together a bullpen.
  4. It's hard to hit against pitchers with nasty stuff if you are auto taking two strikes there.
  5. They traded him with three years to go on a pretty good contract. And they did it while they were contending and Archer was playing pretty well. The corollary for the jays would be to trade Teo last trade deadline or something like that. But, that's an even smaller version of that. Like, I don't know what our version of that would be but we don't do it and almost no other contending team is willing to do that. The Rays are WILLING to trade still good players at positions of need while they are contending. Our fans would hate it but if you ever want to pull off massive rip off deals like that pirates deal, that's how you do it. The financial walls the Ray's front office work within limit what they can do but also give them freedom to do what other teams won't do.
  6. Oh man, that’s terrible to hear. Condolences to the family.
  7. I'm going to activate my pass again just one more time but this stuff happens when YOU CAN'T DEVELOP PITCHING OR PUT TOGETHER A BULLPEN EVEN THOUGH YOU'VE BEEN IN CHARGE FOR 7 YEARS. Teams that aren't good at something under performing because of it isn't a massive surprise. This should be expected.
  8. That would put Stripling/Manoah on 4 days rest? I don't think you can do that when he's starting. It should have been Castillo/Lawrernce. Someone said seniority earlier. If that's the case, fire everyone. f*** seniority.
  9. Maybe they aren't great at identifying who is a better pitcher than another, or hold on to previous priors for too long. The Rays have an injury list a mile long and they are competitive almost every night. They also have the best front office in baseball.
  10. I'm going to activate my one time pass and say that this front office SUCKS at trading for pitching and developing pitching. It's such a humungous weakness.
  11. I'm legally allowed to say it once a game.
  12. It's possible we aren't super good at identifying pitchers to trade for and/or pitching development. It's not super fair to the hitters on this team. Anyone blaming the manager for this is an idiot. He doesn't decide on promotions.
  13. I’m not sure where I heard this but I think the rays do this thing with relief pitching where they get guys with good stuff plus big injury risk and just figure that if they get enough of them someone will always be healthy. It doesn’t cost 40 man spots to have someone on the 60 day IL. They are also prepared to pay real value to get those guys. I think our hitting dev and scouting is top notch. Focusing on hit tool and character works imo. One thing the rays do that I wish we would do (but I understand why we don’t … it could be incredibly unpopular) is trade good late 20s big leaguers while they are competing. The rays won 90 games the year they sold on archer. I think you have to be willing to sell big leaguers to leave yourself open to franchise defining rip off deals.
  14. He has a 89 stuff + and a 103 location plus, which doesn’t seem super ideal.
  15. I was at the riverbank all morning but honestly, if we are going to lose one it would be the mcclanahan start if gausman has to leave early. If he’s healthy, I’m fantastic about the loss in return.
  16. Yea, I’m not super optimistic. I’m interested to see how’s he’s used and how quick the hook is. Him and Lawrernce 3 innings each would have been interesting.
  17. Statistical data! You are a card lol. Moving on…
  18. Hatch is confirmed for tomorrow. I know people want to see Castillo, but this might be better for him. It kind of tells me that they might see him as a possible long man this year, and if he does well start next year. Or stripling role next year. That’s higher than spot starter on the heirarchy, right?
  19. I was just trying to illustrate that catering to old school non pc people like my mom is just as hard as catering to new school very pc people. You can call it Xmas all you want as far I’m concerned!
  20. My very catholic mother would not be happy if someone sent her an ‘Xmas’ card, lol. Who the f*** is X? Professor X? Get the f*** out of here with that nonsense. She probably needs to chill a good 80% but she definitely isn’t handing out any participation ribbons if some Muslim calls it Xmas though. That ain’t happening. Go try a science fair or something.
  21. I’m only annoyed if the player I don’t believe in isn’t a jay and ended up performing. If they play for jays, it’s awesome if they prove me wrong. I’m not a psycho.
  22. Could it be Lawrence tomorrow? Biggio is going to give me a giant L if he keeps this up and I’m ok with that.
  23. If that’s real and he has enough pitches he can command that can totally work as a back end starter. Or even better depending on how many pretty good pitches. It’s interesting to me that garcia’s command is so good because my impression of him is that he always ‘just outside the zone’ but of course that is what good command is.
