  1. Yusei and Jose are straight up going to get Pete walker fired. Probably not fair but still..
  2. Felt like it could be a true massive blow up inning and out of the game first inning. I’m pretty happy just giving up two lol.
  3. I’ll take that. Get out of this inning Yusei.
  4. Him and samad Taylor maybe.
  5. Carlos Vasquez, 17 year old catcher in the DSL has had a pretty good start to the season with a .485 on base and decent slug. He played second base today. Also, just noticed that Gabriel Martinez is on rehab in the FCL.
  6. I have to stay away from that lol. That’s a gateway drug lol.
  7. Yea, but I’m being a drag. Moving on.
  8. You’ve got a point. I’ve got into a bit of a loop. I’m also way too argumentative. I’ll back off for a while and just post stuff I read about jays minor leaguers I hear on fantasy podcasts. That’s a better lane lol.
  9. Edit; never mind, you are right. Im being overly aggressive and repeating myself.
  10. Sorry, I didnt see this before my previous post. Someone just called me dumb a few comments ago. Why aren’t you caping for me? The Yankees not winning a World Series is irrelevant. Winning the World Series is luck. Anyone who judges any team on World Series wins is doing it wrong. They have tons of money and they use and generally well. The astros have had quite a few unheralded prospects become major league contributors. I’m not counting out their pitching dev because they don’t have anyone heralded in the high minors. I’ll believe in the demise of the astros when it happens because they replaced their first wave of talent very well so far. Their current homegrown starters had a final prospect rating of 50FV, 45+FV, 45FV, and 40FV. They have guys like that in their farm right now. The Rays are incredibly injured this year and are still in it. That’s an achievement. I bake in their complete lack of funds when I evaluate how well they are doing. Also, Baz will be an absolute stud. All three of those teams have track record when it comes to developing pitching. I have no idea how much of a homer you would have to be to hold your opinion on this.
  11. If this is the thing they’ve been waiting for and we are going to be one of the elite teams at this going forward… I would love to be wrong about it. Ok, I’ll call an end to bitching about our pitching dev until next offseason. Exceptions are once per bullpen implosion.
  12. A career in sports talk radio awaits! Have at it. I’m interested in reading more about the pitching facility. Not sure how that effected just identifying the right guys to bet on in the first few years of this regime but who knows.
  13. You should balance it out with more vague nonsense about how we just need to go on a run and we have winning records against certain teams like that f***ing matters. Some brain dead stuff like that would be a good bit of balance.
  14. Oh yea, we definitely suck at pitching compared to them. Correct. I like our hitting philosophy. Betting on hit tool works imo.
  15. This is it in a nutshell lol when it comes to our bullpen. I look at some teams and you can just see that they made this guy. We don’t have that. It’s fine margins but we don’t have it.
  16. I’ve been skeptical of their ability to put together pitching depth or a bullpen for years.
  17. This is a good situation. Most organizations would kill for our major league talent. We will be good for a decent chunk of time and then bad. I’m happy with that. The supposition that 7 years is enough time to tell if we are one of the elite teams at pitching dev or evaluation is just factual. You can tell in 7 years. It doesn’t matter how long we were contending for or how bad the farm was or whatever. 7 years is enough time. Baltimore are an unknown quantity. They’ve had three years. They also came from a good pitching dev org. The logical choice is to give them the benefit of the doubt and to say we are probably not good at it. I’m not sure how anyone could look at this and see it another way without some really blue tinted glasses on. Also, ill take ‘this is pretty dumb’ and take it to mean ‘ we didn’t pull any pitching out of a hat when we were bad’. It’s possible things are changing behind the scenes. Maybe the guys in the low minors are an indicator that we have got better at this. Maybe not. They are dudes in the low minors, they are pitching prospects and it’s been 7 years.
  18. I agree with number 2 but um we were bad for a while there, where’s all the pitching we pulled out of a hat? I get the optimism on our pitching dev but it’s clearly obvious to me that we aren’t one of the ‘smart’ front offices. The cimber trade is the only trade I can think of that we got a pitcher on great value. The rays have several trades in the same span where they did that. I absolutely believe that the orioles will be better at it going forward because they are Houston guys. They get the benefit of the doubt. 7 years is enough time to think we might have got the wrong Cleveland guys. Whoever at Cleveland identified the guys they traded for or developed them obviously didn’t come over .
  19. I find this team frustrating because I tend to look at baseball from a GM pov and we obviously have a good front office but probably the third best front office in our division. Jury is out on Boston and Baltimore. We can’t construct a bullpen for s***, even though other teams are able to do so. Smarter teams. We spend a s*** ton on pitching and don’t have any depth there somehow after 7 years. Our front office talked this big talk about sustainable success and being the dodgers and have not lived up to that at all in the types of moves they make. These are dumb things to be angry about. 85% of mlb teams would love these problems. It’s just tough when two of the smartest teams in baseball are in your division.
  20. What I’m saying is that it is illogical. A winning brand is a winning brand. If the jays acted like the rays sometimes and that helped them win more then it would help the brand. I don’t think it’s a brand thing or ownership pressure. I think that it’s just super risky from a job safety pov for the front office. It wouldn’t hurt the jays brand if they traded Teo and Jansen for a little bit of help now and a lot of help later at the deadline. No one would care as long as we win. But if we lost, people would want the front office gone.
  21. Losing doesn’t help ours either. I guess it’s better to have owners that are so cheap they don’t care what you do than rich ones that care too much. Ironic.
  22. You are mixing up the causation there. Oakland and Tampa have to have innovative strategies because their owners are cheap. I’d rather win baseball games than improve the brand I guess, but that’s neither here nor there. I don’t understand why running a strategy that leads to losing seasons with low attendances is good for the brand but I’m not a marketer.
  23. I agree that Tampa have an underrated advantage in that they have the freedom to always make the smart move. What I’m saying is that if you are willing to trade players at their peak and that ended up getting you more winning seasons and more playoff appearances, that it would in the end not hurt your attendance at all. If you did that and still lost, you are gonzo though. Which is why gms of rich teams don’t do it imo. It’s easier to keep your job if you work within the framework of what’s acceptable.
  24. The media and fans won’t care as long as you win ultimately.
  25. It’s also the Houston, NYY and LAD way. I mean, they aren’t paying peanuts but most of their pitching is underpaid. I think it would be very smart to trade guys like Jansen and Teo and maybe Lourdes early and get guys we like back with control. That’s also important but not as important at pitching dev.
