If we had league average pitching the month before that, he could have had the exact same 10 game stretch and kept his job. I do feel pretty bad for him. But it’s the job of a manager to be the fall guy.
I’m not saying it’s the pitching coaches problem. I’m saying pitching is the problem and the manager is way down the list of people who could be responsible for that.
Managers are always the scapegoat for bad front office performance.
I don’t see how you fire the manager and not the pitching coach. That’s been the problem.
Sarris was saying on their podcast that drop off
release point can indicate that someone is carrying an injury sometimes. It would make sense that someone like berrios who is never out could be practiced at playing through issues that would sideline other players.
On the Jansen/Moreno thing. I think that trading Jansen now at this point can’t be done. We need to win games right now with urgency. I also think you can’t trade Moreno now. I’d want to see if the power will come back the further he gets away from his thumb injury.
He seems to be dealing with some injuries. He’s had a few spells out. But yea, he is super intriguing. I feel like when he gets an extended spell in front of him, he will explode.
