  1. I'm just happy there's minor league games at all. Last season was brutal.
  2. Elvis Luciano today: 4ip, 4h, 0er, 1bb, 5k. Era down to 2.42 for the season. He's 21 in AA and pitching well. Is he a legit prospect?
  3. Ryu is going through a bit of rough stretch. It's happened before and he's turned out just fine. I guess with this whole stick stuff, any time a pitcher goes through a rough patch, people will jump to conclusion. Baseball's a long season. Let's just see how his performance continues to trend. It's not like he's been terrible. Looking at his game logs, Houston was his worst start in recently weeks.
  4. I'm surprised they left him in so long with his health history. 41 pitches in one inning?
  5. Man that makes me sad. Alomar was a big reason I got hooked on the Jays and baseball.
  6. If he's healthy, he's going to be on the team. He'll be 25 next year. They are not going to start him in the minors. What role he occupies, depends on what the FO does in the off-season.
  7. I laughed. Is that wrong? Josh is funny here. Especially his retort to Guillen's comments. "... career .700 ops hitter". I had to look it up. Josh was being generous. Guillen's career never sniffed .700. Yet he managed to accumulate close to 21 war in 16 seasons.
  8. Van Eyk has been pretty good this year. His numbers have been inflated by a couple of really horrendous outings where he only went 0.2 innings. His last outing he gave up 7er in 0.2 innings. I like what he's shown this year in his first pro ball. Kloffenstein has just flat out sucked this year.
  9. CJ Van Eyk + Kloffenstein? Too much? Too little?
  10. Cherington knows our system in depth. Perhaps there are other assets who he values higher than publicly listed rankings. Jays have deep enough system to land a high end closer without giving up top 10 I think.
  11. He's been good though when he has been on the field. 19 yr olds putting up .900+ ops in A ball (albeit in limited games) has done more than simply looking good in my books. We'll see how Kirk's body type holds up and ages over the long haul. I'm hoping well, because I am a Jays fan, but it's not like Kirk doesn't have his own durability questions.
  12. I agree. I don't think I'd move Groshans for a closer or a rental.
  13. Oof. Hopefully the diagnosis is minor ailment, and he'll return and pick right back up where he left.
  14. Is it possible that the Jays (and other teams) are being more cautious, and giving players more rest as a result of having had no minor leagues last year? Just a guess, and could be no real correlation.
  15. Brosseau 0.8 war vs Panik -0.3 war. Panik should not be rostered on a contending team, let alone get as much playing time as he has. Brosseau is a good IF bench guy, even with his poor bat this year.
  16. Maybe Montoya will be so upset Atkins traded away Panik, he'll quit in retaliation! One can dream.
  17. Vlad looks good even making outs. What a hitter.
  18. I was going to mention Correa's durability. But thought maybe with his age, it's an issue he can overcome. But no doubt, teams will take it into consideration. It may also be, teams recognized that the Mets overpayed, and will look to avoid making same error. I thought pre-season, Seager would emerge as the cream of the 2022 SS class. Maybe he might fall into the Jays price range? Probably not.
  19. Good point. There's a lot more technology and data out there today, for both players and organizations to take advantage of.
  20. Carlos Correa emerging as the cream of the 2022 free agent SS class. Both his walk rate and k rate best of his career. He also happens to be the youngest. The others mentioned in same group are having down years. Bad timing. Semien was generally not mentioned in that group pre-season that I can recall, but he's second to Correa in WAR. Will he beat Lindor's contract in free agency?
  21. I'm trying to remember the last time there were so many young generational talent playing at the same time. When was the last time a group matched Vlad, Acuna, Tatis, Soto, and now Wander? All 23 and under that are already established super stars. Wander still has to prove it, but his track record indicates high probability he'll join the Jrs and Soto.
  22. So, you are saying Pat is almost as smart as a broken clock?
  23. Lol. Did Pat provide some kind of reasoning for this suggestion? Not that it matters for such an absurd idea.
  24. It's almost comical how some pitchers just can't seem get any run support. Offence really needs to score more runs for deGrom. Who is this Muller guy that is holding them to 1 run?
