  1. It's criminal he even has 2 losses. 14ip 8h 2er 1bb 23so in those 2 losses.
  2. I got hooked on the Jays early 90s (around time of big Alomar/Carter trade), and I don't remember the team being in such a good position for sustained competitiveness. With the talent pipeline being so fruitful, the team could have similar decade long success as the teams from 1983-1993. Long ways to go obviously.
  3. I'm glad he's not. I'm probably in the minority, but I don't really care much for the HR derby. For me, it's not that exciting.
  4. Will see how he holds up late into the game. Last start he struck out 8 of 9, but left after 3 innings. Fingers crossed.
  5. I've read DeGrom's velocity has been increasing last few years? Was it change in mechanics, grip, strength and conditioning? Do pitchers age differently than hitters? It seems there are more cases of pitchers getting better and remaining elite into their mid 30s or later, whereas hitters seems to start to decline from early 30 and onward. This is only anecdotal by me, and the data may show otherwise.
  6. SWR strikes out the side in the 4th, and now the 5th.
  7. It was a rough 4th inning. Started inning with 2 SO, ran into some trouble, but still ended up striking out the side.
  8. The one certitude we can agree too is that this is not a bottom five farm system. haha. Was it Longenhagen who said this?
  9. I don't either. I'm not a scout, nor do I have any credentials. I can only evaluate based on the scouting literature published. All that said, the gap has closed. At the beginning of the season, there's no way I could have imagined even discussing the merits for comparison between Moreno and Rutschman. It's exciting to dream, the Jays may potentially add an all-star calibre catcher to the young core, in the not too distant future.
  10. I would love for that to happen. Moreno has definitely taken a huge leap this year. But Rutschman is still deserved the superior catching prospect. His plate discipline is also something I don't think Moreno will ever match.
  11. Rutschman is projected as a plus defender. 2 way catchers are hard to come by. Moreno I think, is projected to have average at best defence. His value will come from his bat.
  12. Merryweather also. f***, that guy might put up Eric Gagne numbers if he could ever stay healthy.
  13. This is how I see it. The tools are there, but the durability issues are a concern.
  14. Thank the all deity there's minor league baseball again. This team is so exciting to follow. Atkins is still underrated I think, for what he's developed.
  15. Yeah, I was probably too optimistic. 2-3 war is probably more realistic to hope for. One can still dream.
  16. Would J.T. Realmuto be a good comp for Moreno's FV?
  17. I'm not sure where I stand on trading Semien. Even if playoff chances look slim, I want the young core to constantly push for victory and experience that winning attitude, if such a thing exists. Jays still are 4th in run differential in AL. I know that was benefited from the early success of the BP, but the rotation looks like it's stabilized, and should continue to give the team opportunity to win with the offence they have. Health permitted of course, which is never a given. Having said that, if the front office decides to sell off pieces, what could the Jays get if they packaged Semien and Ray together? Could that land a blue chip prospect from a contender?
  18. I have no knowledge of what goes on in the clubhouse, but I hope the players have more competitiveness than their manager, and does not adopt his apparent defeatist mentality. Players should not be be okay conceding victory and accepting losses with such casual apathy.
  19. Stripling, you don't have to apologize to Panik. Sooner he's released, the better.
  20. It's fun to read other team's game threads. Vlad is already a legend. Opposing fans are for giving him the Bonds treatment.
  21. I don't remember enough from that draft, and you could be right in your analysis. I just remember wanting Sale (I know, hindsight) and my vague recollection of McGuire's scouting report was that of a bland, back of the rotation guy, Jays selected to move quickly to the majors. McGreevy at least seems to be a little younger, better athlete (?) and under the current Jays development system, perhaps still has room to grow. If Jays were picking 11 as in 2010, then yes, I would hope for higher upside. But at 19, if McGreevy can develop into a mid-rotation guy, maybe a no.3, I wouldn't mind I don't think.
  22. Glasnow's a great talent, but he sounds like an entitled, no personal fault kind of guy. It didn't sit well with me either when he insinuated the Jays were stealing signs as the reason why they hit him well last time out. But this theory of the cause for his injury is so cringe.
  23. Excellent athlete, good size, elite control with possibility to develop more in the way of stuff. Sounds like McGreevy would be terrific value at pick 19. I trust this front office, and the player development strategy they've implemented, to maximize the selection if they feel he is the best talent available at 19.
