Vladdy's arbitration this time around is going to be a nightmare. I mean, all the Jays need to do is show a PowerPoint presentation of his 2023 numbers. I hope they settle on a Bichette-like $10M/year to cover the remainder of his arb time.
I would say a lot of us agree with you here. I liked a lot of his moves, really since day one. But especially this off season. Hopefully he can figure out where he went wrong and correct for 2024. I blow up isn't necessary, but some big changes might be required.
Such a great question. Early on, I was thinking uh oh, > $30M AAV with his next contract. But now...unsure. I really, really like him as a player on this team going forward, but we have some youngsters who could be pretty good, too. And way cheaper.
Okay, chances are this season is over. What should the FO do for 2024?
I think a long term deal with Vladdy makes sense. Do it when he sucks. He should bounce back.
I would try to retain Chapman. $22M AAV, 5-years?
I would try to re-sign Ryu.
I keep thinking they could have traded him, avoided this, and stocked their team for years. What a poor decision.
This sucks for Ohtani. I was excited to see what he would make this off-season. I was thinking $60M AAV.
Am I the only Jays fan who couldn't care less about the Bass thing? Bad pitcher, bad pitcher, good riddance. I actually forgot about him entirely until I came back to this forum after a few weeks away (and a break from the Jays in general).
I am still in shock that the 13-0 Rays come to town to face Berrios and Kuch in games 1 and 2, and LOST! I am starting to believe in the 2023 Jays squad. I know a sweep is out of the question, but dare to dream.

The Jays OF defense is such a joy to watch. It has to be the best ever assembled in Blue Jays history.
To be honest, I gave the Jays like a 5% chance of winning this game. Berrios has looked like s***, Rays are 13-0, etc. But man, I love being proved wrong!
I always think that, too. Sort of bounced around a little like "E5" did when Edwin sucked at 3B, but then like Edwin Jordan has found his home. And as an added bonus, he's from the area. Hard to believe.
