  1. No, not how what works? Hiring managers? DUI? HOF cred? What?
  2. I didn't realize that was his second. But, IMO, LaRussa is a HOF manager, and Walker never has before. Two different scenarios.
  3. So, this means that Walker will not be hired by any team as a manager for a while. If the Jays don't fire him, he's our forever!
  4. He was, and ran like a gazelle. He made hard plays look easy.
  5. 100% agree. If he stays healthy, he should. Count me as someone really happy he is gone, though. He was a bottleneck.
  6. Do you all think Greg Bird has a chance to stick? He's intriguing all right. Might be a good lefty DH and backup 1B. I would rather carry him than Reese as the 3rd catcher. He seems to be getting lots of looks, anyway.
  7. The asking price presumably also goes down the longer Cleveland waits...it may be worth it just hoping Bird is something and see what happens. Although having all the bullets to start the season would be nice.
  8. Well, we can close this thread now. That covers pretty much everything.
  9. I am really surprised he didn't sign a 1-year. I will look this up but he must have an opt-out clause after a year. No way he just signs for 23M AAV.
  10. I don't think weight is a great indicator at any rate. Muscle weighs more than fat, and if he has put on brawn and toned up a lot, he may end up weighing more than last season.
  11. I do that trade. it stings. But no Manoah or Moreno from my POV.
  12. 100%. I am a big AA fan, so when he was left, I was bitter. But Shatkins have made great move after great move.
  13. It's good news for all orgs with great farm systems.
  14. Jesus Christ, f***ing finally.
  15. What does age well? Wine? Beatles songs?
  16. He is a different man, now. He's always been awesome, but now he knows his time is running out (father time) and he has gone on record as saying he's trying to have as much fun as he can before the party is over. I personally think he would love a trade to the Jays. I mean, can you name a team that seems to have more fun? But this is 100% conjecture.
  17. A few people have mentioned LGJ may actually play okay at 3B. I don't know how I feel about this.
  18. I agree. And I am noticing that other MLB clubs are starting to consider artificial turf. The new stuff is pretty amazing.
  19. I would also like to see expanded active rosters, maybe to 28 players, and a shorted regular season so 4-6 more playoff teams can be added. The players should be hard core on increasing the number of players on the roster. It starts more service times, gets more AAA players the league minimum, would allow for more bat-only vets to stay in the game on the bench, more specialized defense only players, etc.
  20. I don't have an economics degree, but you would think the union would push for a salary floor pretty hard. Some teams seem intent to get rich of the TV contract, and do little else than provide top talent to the have teams. I would love to force the stingy teams to pay > $60M a year in payroll. Presumably that means more $$$ in the players' pockets, a healthier free agency situation, and the AAV for players to go up. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
  21. You're right. He's no Harold Baines.
  22. Mostly your comments. Didn't you suggest we sign him now? Maybe that was someone else. But then you implied that I want to wait until FA. Those would be two, black and white, options. Unless you are not on the sign-him-now bandwagon. In which case I think we are on the same page.
  23. No I am not. Maybe in the last year or two, give him the $$$ via extension. Or not. Depending on the new CBA. But between now and then, put that money towards other needs. You are thinking too black and white. It is not a case of giving him $1B NOW or doing nothing until FA. Somewhere in the middle is the answer that mitigates risk significantly.
  24. I thought Santos would be great. He had such great stuff. But he flamed out so quickly.
  25. For sure. But I mean they will need to get something. That may not happen. Maybe Gurriel jr and Kirk for an impact player.
