  1. Biebs, Bo, or Both? Does anyone have an opinion on Bieber? I really think the Jays aught to offer him something like Burnes' contract - Corbin Burnes signed 6 years, $210M. Maybe model the structure after Vladdy's signing bonus contract, before MLB closes that loophole. I guess it sort of depends on sustained Lauer success, or Manoah's return. Or maybe not. Truly a team needs 7 decent starters to make a season of it, it seems. I am hoping Bo signs a 10-year deal for $27.M AAV - but I don't know if he would take that. He may want $30M AAV at this point. Unsure. With those signings, Bo, Bieber or both would have to defer a bit for 2026 and 2027 to avoid the 32% luxury tax threshold. I think the FO is okay with a 20% luxury tax threshold. Whom should the Jays target out of these two, if it's an either/or situation? My head says Bieber, but heart says Bo. Ugh. Tough decisions.
  2. It is sort of a worst case scenario, isn't it? The FO brought in great talent for the BP. But things have been rolling snake eyes ever since. I have said this already, but I am still shocked Yesavage is not up with the team. Maybe he's not instantly used in leverage spots, but I would be tempted to use him there over Little, etc. at this point. When Little is up in the bullpen, I turn the game off.,
  3. I would have called him up weeks ago. I have no idea why he is not up yet.
  4. Regarding Trey Yesavage, if he is added to the 40-man prior to September, and called up in August at some point, he is 100% eligible to play in the playoffs, but if he is called up in September, he is still eligible to play in playoffs, but only as an injury replacement? Either way, it starts his service clock, but this far in the season it should be a big deal.
  5. Dude, they had no choice. They're in first place—you have to go for it when you're in that spot. Holding onto every prospect doesn't win you a playoff series. You trade from the farm to give the big-league team a real shot. And let’s be real: only 30–40% of top prospects ever turn into legit MLB players. Most fizzle out. The Jays need help now, and they made the kind of smart, targeted moves that can actually make a difference in October.
  6. Decent trade deadline grade (from me) for these trades: A- They picked up Shane Bieber to stabilize the rotation—he’s not Cy Young-level anymore, but he’s still a solid mid-rotation guy with playoff experience. Seranthony Domínguez adds a big arm to the bullpen; he throws gas and has late-inning experience from Philly’s postseason runs. Ty France gives them a quality right-handed bat who can rotate through 1B/DH and actually get on base—perfect depth for a playoff lineup. And Louie Varland is a sneaky good pickup—former starter who’s thriving as a reliever now, with great stuff in short bursts and reverse splits that could be clutch in October. And years of control left. Didn’t give up top prospects, plugged every major hole. Deadline grade: A– Let’s go.
  7. I didn't know he signed an extension. Damn, I thought he was a no-brainer guy to try and get.
  8. What do the Jays really need? I'd say an (almost) elite closer type reliever, a solid middle reliever, ideally a really solid SP, and maybe (if there were any players left to trade) a big bopper. I think Brent Rooker may be a good fit there.
  9. How's about this trade... We get the following from the Pirates: 1. Mitch Keller 2. David Bednar We trade - dunno. Anyone but Nimmala. Maybe Orelvis Martinez, Yesavage, Clase, Wagner, Roden+
  10. Anthony Kay is having quite a season in Japan. He may be a guy to target this offseason.
  11. I was actually silently hoping that would DFA Springer before the season.
  12. There are lots of okay RH batters on the market, but I think the Jays have enough okay internal options. I think the FO should target and really good/great impact bat. I would not be satisfied with a marginal upgrade.
  13. I keep circling back to Bo and his looming free agency. He’s clearly playing well, and the Jays are in the thick of the playoff race—so I get why trading him feels off-limits. But in a video game world, I’m flipping him at the deadline to bolster the farm and maybe snag a young, controllable starter. I mean, look at what Kikuchi and García fetched last deadline—and yeah, pitchers are a different market, but still. That kind of return has to make you think. After Vladdy signed his extension, I honestly thought Bo’s deal might follow soon after. Now I’m not so sure. If this front office just rides it out and lets him walk for a compensation pick, that feels like the worst of all options. What do you guys think—do they extend, trade, or just let him walk?
  14. I've liked Lukes for a while, now. last year I thought he had a shot to stick, but I didn't see a very high ceiling - maybe 2 fWAR if everything lands right. I thought he would eventually end up in Pittsburgh or Oakland/Las Vegas and have a decent career. However, i am starting to think he's clutch in addition to decent peripherals. It will be interesting to see how he develops this year. I am definitely a fan, and would wish him great sucess wherever he lands (not unlike Pillar).
  15. I think this would be an optimal time to extend Swanson. By most accounts, he likes the org, and would likely sign a fairly reasonable extension.
  16. I think this contract *will* age well. Maybe not the last three years, but I think we've to see the heights of Vladdy's offence. I just wanted to not be another Debbie Downer.
  17. I would be very upset if Yarbrough didn't start the season with the Jays.
  18. These are exactly my thoughts. I think Roden needs to stay down to get consistent playing time and avoid starting his service clock, tbh. I would love it if Myles Straw starts the season hot. Maybe he then becomes a trade candidate when Varsho is healthy. I really think a lot of Lukes, but I don't see him getting much of a chance in the org. I can see him going somewhere like Pittsburgh and becoming a consistent 2 fWAR outfielder there. I was 100% ready to give up on Schneider, but man, he's had a great sping. He is an easy guy to cheer for.
  19. I would almost DFA Springer at the point. He's awful. This would give Roden, Barger, etc a chance.
  20. I don't know if I am in the minority here, likely, but I hope the FO trades Vladdy ASAP. Boston is in our division, but to (say) get Casas and two of their best prospects would be a boon. Maybe Jake Burger and 3 Ranger prospects? Anyway, he will be a season long distraction. Buh-bye.
  21. I have loved Stoeten's stuff for a while. I read his stuff probably before a lot of other writers, tbh. I also love anything written by Shi, even though he needs to be a company man.
  22. I dislike the FO for many reasons. But, IMO, if Vladdy was given a fair offer north of $400M, and he refused, f*** him. Trade him now.
  23. I dislike this FO, but I think they gave Vladdy a good offer. I would trade him to Texas for Berger and 4 prospects. Berger (sp?) projects for ~ 2 WAR. the prospects could fortify our farm. TBH. f*** Vladdy.
  24. I really, really hope the Blue Jays consider trading Vladdy right now. If we can rob a franchise of 4 top prospects+, and maybe an okay option at 1B, it would make a lot of sense long term. I would honestly consider being really aggressive signing Bo long term now, too. If it's not too late. This whole scenario is s*****, but to start the season on such a sour note is brutal. If we get rid of the distraction, and load up, I could live with it.
