  1. What are the chances the things I want in the new CBA happen? 1. Expanded playoffs 2. Robo-umps 3. Division re-alignment 4. Universal DH 5. A hard payroll minimum, and soft maximum cap (with luxury tax after X).
  2. I think if they give him the most money when it is time, he will sign. Let him perform into a big contract over a few years. If the Jays are really one of the big boys, $$$ when the time comes shouldn't be scary.
  3. I don't see the point in giving him 12-years, 800M or whatever. He will sign where the money is, regardless. I would rather wait, and hope that he doesn't succumb to catastrophic injury, weight issue, etc.
  4. Unless you want to date him, why?
  5. I think any day vampire works.
  6. I heard it on the radio as I was driving on the highway and had to pull over.
  7. I am old enough to remember the Fernandez/McGriff for Alomar/Carter. Man, that was a crazy trade. So many fans were livid.
  8. Great (IMO) article on three trade routes the Jays can do after the lockout that would cost ~ 24M and meet most of their needs for 2022. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/three-roadmaps-addressing-blue-jays-remaining-off-season-needs/
  9. I think he's be > 2.5 and he's a leftie with power. I would then go after Ramirez at the trade deadline or offseason. He will cost less. I don't want to part with 3-4 solid prospects for Ramirez, but I wouldn't be upset if they did, either. The difference between those two players may only be 2 or 3 WAR, which of course this last year would have meant a playoff spot. Ugh. Being a GM would be incredibly tough.
  10. I had sort of written off Kyle Seager as a move Shatkins would have made 2-3 years ago, but the more I think about it the more I like it. He'd be cheap, and after the Jays sign 1-2 more bullpen arms, that would be good. He's good for ~ 2.5+ WAR on this team, pretty decent offense and defense, and we get that leftie bat 5th or 6th in the order. And he wouldn't be a long contract so he wouldn't block any of the kids. And of course, no QO. What sort of money would he be looking for?
  11. Absolutely there should be a floor. I am tired of the posers like the Marlins making millions of TV revenue yearly, and putting none of it back into roster improvement. Also, universal DH please. I would actually love, love love to see a radically expanded playoff format. A lot of the small market teams like Pittsburgh really will never have a chance otherwise. And then September ball becomes more of a crazy roller coaster ride.
  12. I wonder if the Jays could take Votto of their hands to cut down on the prospects going back for Castillo.
  13. That is seriously a crazy difference. Like maybe historic improvement over 3 seasons.
  14. Maybe $40M, 30M, 25, 25, 25. $40M works for 2022.
  15. Okay, I would s*** in my pants and throw up.
  16. I kind of liked him...not a huge fan, but whenever I watched him he seemed to come up with a hit. I wish him well.
  17. I would s*** my pants if they signed Freeman. He projected for a 3-year deal. Maybe if he's given a 5-year, 20M AAV? He's 32. But worth ~ 4 WAR a season. And he bats left. Which is really what is needed.
  18. No kidding!!! I kept hitting F5 yesterday on my browsing because I have come to expect big splashes.
  19. I've wanted to dislike them since the GM_AA fiasco, but they keep building a better team year after year, and continue doing it smart ways that keep our long game solid with prospects. I love their plan so far. They have said too often for it not to be true that the money is there. They certainly have payroll parameters, many have said ~ $180, but I also believe they have latitude to make huge trades and sign FAs if the opportunity presents itself. In sum, this FO doesn't f*** around, but they do not do things recklessly. I love it.
  20. Great signing, but yeah, 100% Ray era is over. Now we get the Semien and Ray compensation picks, whilst not losing one with Gausman because he too his QO last year. Just so brilliant. Now they need a 3B...or trust Vladdy's new quickness and lithe build plays at 3B and trade for Votto.
  21. Have you ever tried to hit a 101 mph fastball?
  22. I disagree. So, are you saying never sign FAs?
  23. Holy s***, he was so good. What ended him, concussions?
  24. I already have. With a back tattoo.
  25. Kwang Hyun Kim would be a no-brainer signing for me. For so many reasons. Spot starter, relief, whatever. Steamer predicts ~ 1.2 WAR.
