  1. I had sort of written off Kyle Seager as a move Shatkins would have made 2-3 years ago, but the more I think about it the more I like it. He'd be cheap, and after the Jays sign 1-2 more bullpen arms, that would be good. He's good for ~ 2.5+ WAR on this team, pretty decent offense and defense, and we get that leftie bat 5th or 6th in the order. And he wouldn't be a long contract so he wouldn't block any of the kids. And of course, no QO. What sort of money would he be looking for?
  2. Absolutely there should be a floor. I am tired of the posers like the Marlins making millions of TV revenue yearly, and putting none of it back into roster improvement. Also, universal DH please. I would actually love, love love to see a radically expanded playoff format. A lot of the small market teams like Pittsburgh really will never have a chance otherwise. And then September ball becomes more of a crazy roller coaster ride.
  3. I wonder if the Jays could take Votto of their hands to cut down on the prospects going back for Castillo.
  4. That is seriously a crazy difference. Like maybe historic improvement over 3 seasons.
  5. Maybe $40M, 30M, 25, 25, 25. $40M works for 2022.
  6. Okay, I would s*** in my pants and throw up.
  7. I kind of liked him...not a huge fan, but whenever I watched him he seemed to come up with a hit. I wish him well.
  8. I would s*** my pants if they signed Freeman. He projected for a 3-year deal. Maybe if he's given a 5-year, 20M AAV? He's 32. But worth ~ 4 WAR a season. And he bats left. Which is really what is needed.
  9. No kidding!!! I kept hitting F5 yesterday on my browsing because I have come to expect big splashes.
  10. I've wanted to dislike them since the GM_AA fiasco, but they keep building a better team year after year, and continue doing it smart ways that keep our long game solid with prospects. I love their plan so far. They have said too often for it not to be true that the money is there. They certainly have payroll parameters, many have said ~ $180, but I also believe they have latitude to make huge trades and sign FAs if the opportunity presents itself. In sum, this FO doesn't f*** around, but they do not do things recklessly. I love it.
  11. Great signing, but yeah, 100% Ray era is over. Now we get the Semien and Ray compensation picks, whilst not losing one with Gausman because he too his QO last year. Just so brilliant. Now they need a 3B...or trust Vladdy's new quickness and lithe build plays at 3B and trade for Votto.
  12. Have you ever tried to hit a 101 mph fastball?
  13. I disagree. So, are you saying never sign FAs?
  14. Holy s***, he was so good. What ended him, concussions?
  15. I already have. With a back tattoo.
  16. Kwang Hyun Kim would be a no-brainer signing for me. For so many reasons. Spot starter, relief, whatever. Steamer predicts ~ 1.2 WAR.
  17. I wasn't a big fan of "stand" Pat Gillick, but when he got a little more exciting it was fun.
  18. Right? It's like Ryu and Springer never happened.
  19. Yep, for sure. For the first off-season move, this is really something. IMO.
  20. No kidding. He is in the #1 on more than half the MLB teams.
  21. He has three years left I think...that would be Groshans++. But I would do it. Takes care of 3B for three years. Biggio/Espinal bouncing around between 2B and the INF works for me. You'd you solid defense and offence. I would prefer the three years and probable cost more than a lot of trades that have been proposed. We could even eat some bad salary to retain a prospect I would bet.
  22. Universal DH, division re-alignment, robo-umps (with a firm ETA) and pitch clocks for me...in that order.
  23. It would be nice to trade McGuire and Kirk into a player or two to help the team and go with Jansen until May, and then bring up Moreno. Depends on the new CBA I guess.
  24. Matt Chapman would be nice, but my number one priority is a elite offensive player who bats left and has plus defense. For anywhere but 1B or SS. But I wouldn't shy away from signing Seiya Suzuki.
