  1. The arb system doesn't quite work that way. Vlad is in his 3rd year of arb due to super 2 status while Bo would only be in his second year. while Bo has been the better player recently, Vlad's near MVP season still weighs heavily in his favour for comps and led to a high starting point as he entered arb. That would account for a quite large difference between what he would file at this year and what Bo would have filed at.
  2. probably his proctologist
  3. Hear me out here...what if we got Varsho to don the catcher's gear again so we could get Clement into the lineup?
  4. No, you don't, but it should come naturally as part of your SP development that you get some relievers. It would be fine to say they have gotten no relievers if their prospects succeeded as starters but that's not the case either. For pitchers, Manoah is all they have to show much of anything and the jury is out on him now too.
  5. Atkins has not drafted/signed and developed a single relief pitcher other than Nate Pearson in years. That, to me, is inexcusable. As a result, they have had to spend resources(money and trade assets) to try to fill those holes that can't be spent elsewhere.
  6. If these fancy new lower bowl club memberships don't sell (which they might not given the on field issues and lack of meaningful changes this offseason), Shapiro will definitely be skating on thin ice.
  7. Maybe you go with those guys and then upgrade at the deadline if you need to. Maybe Schneider is legit and one of Orelvis/Barger breaks through...they likely have time to figure some of that out.
  8. I'm sure TV rights in Japan are part of a shared revenue stream but I have been wondering if owning their own streaming app could be a means around this for Rogers where they could capitalize on that market.
  9. Outside of the Dickey deal, which would you go back and undo if you had the chance?
  10. Starting at $9500 for Batting Tunnel and $15500 for The lounge. No price listed for the Home Plate Club because if you have to ask...you can't afford it.
  11. It's amazing how big of a difference there is between Fangraph's and BRef for WAR in some cases.. Mauer is quite a bit higher in WAR on Bref but Martin is higher on FG.
  12. I don't know if I see Mauer as a comp for Martin at all. Mauer has the MVP, multiple gold gloves, silver sluggers and batting titles. But he ended his career as a first basemen/DH. I think many view him in a much higher standing than Martin. Martin wasn't nearly as good a hitter but was a catcher until the end. His accolades are significantly lower with just one gold glove and one silver slugger.
  13. I really wish they would have figured out a way to accomplish this without tying it to the results of a writer's vote.
  14. And for all that, they didn't win a single playoff game.
  15. I am convinced there is some fire with this Ohtani smoke. There are a lot of very expensive seats about to be launched with the new lower bowl renovations and Ohtani would be the perfect get to ensure those seats get sold.
  16. Roughly around the same as the odds I make the team.
  17. I don't know that a vlad trade exists that would make sense for both sides. I just don't think he has the value at the moment to command what it would take.
  18. she's been GM since 2021...Anyone who is judging a GM's drafting skills that early is a damned fool.
  19. if teams truly felt the layoff was impactful they could figure out a way around it. Play simulated games or a split squad game or against a AAA team to keep their timing fresh. I can't imagine this is a difficult problem to solve.
  20. ummm, Vlad is a perennial All star (one can argue whether or not it is deserved)
  21. 8 years is plenty stable. 8 years when you inherited one dynamic young talent in Vladdy and scouts who called for a second dynamic talent to be drafted when you didn't want to (Bo). So they've wasted nearly all of their cheap years without so much as a playoff win to show for it. Yes, they have been more successful than many of the regimes before them, but given the hand they were dealt one could argue they should have done better. Now, they haven't won a playofff game, their core guys getting more expensive and have spent a boatload in free agency with a fairly bare farm system. This isn't the sustainable model they sold us.
  22. The best hitter with runners in scoring position was Vlad wasn't it? The same guy we heard wasn't listening to the coaches this year.
  23. They've lost a portion of the fanbase (maybe that changes after an offseason to cool down) heading into a season where they are launching fancy new (and very expensive) seating options. It's going to look very bad for him if many of those seats and club memberships go unsold.
  24. It was a small sample size and the hitting with runners in scoring position numbers were bound to normalize...
