  1. To this point - The game was 0-0 when the decision was made, it was 2-0 after. Second- JS went out of his way in a very difficult post game conference to make it clear these are organizational decisions not pointing specifically at Ross nor saying if he felt he didn’t have autonomy. Ross flat out says John’s decision. There are ways of setting conditions for your subordinates to believe you want a course of action and if you don’t go that route it will be unsat vs having a boss telling you to do a specific action directly.
  2. What he did was threw his manger under the bus, which will be very problematic going fwd within the Blue Jays org. What he also did not do is take accountability and state that at the end of the day Ross sets conditions and is responsible for decisions made and the result. I would be fnnnnn fuming if I were JS.
  3. In 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire". Guys like you will always be reliving their glory days.
  4. That would be a lot of blowing. Blowing to get the team, then blowing the team and finishing in the bottom rung.. Course, you have always been a power bottom.
  5. As someone who is in a management position at a major company and was also in the military I just saw infuriating piss poor leadership and accountability. Ross just threw John under the boss after John has gone out of his way to protect the FO, took zero accountability. Ross also exposed the team’s process is so inflexible that issues that were glaring in April, May, June are not able to be identified and fixed in a 162 plus two game season, but need to be fixed by process, not personnel in the off season. Seriously f*** off. I had been on the fence up until a week or so ago, but f*** off!
  6. We were supposed to win the division and make the World Series and have a serious chance to win it. Yea we backed into the playoffs, which got us nothing. Just making the playoffs with all these WC they added should not be an acceptable result for the fanbase and FO. We came third in our division.
  7. Did they get rid of the Sunshine girl?? What do people read? That toilet paper the Toronto Star?
  8. Those of you who thinks there is some Chinese wall between Shapiro and Atkins are incorrect. Shapiro needs to fire himself if he fires Atkins since Shapiro is very much involved in baseball decisions. If you have a guy around just for stadium and facilities improvements you could hire a design architect and a gate revenue consultant.
  9. I read it also. The Dodgers are thinking of taking advantage of his bat at 3b or LF I believe it was. The Dodgers have other catchers coming up or sign one I guess.. It all depends what happens in FA. Nothing locked in stone, just depends on FA and player options.
  10. Zavala is actually good.. Help them get under the luxury tax and you could probably get more or a bonafide MLB player...
  11. On Saturday... Probably on a weekend for a reason...
  12. There is no Atkins. It is Shapiro and Atkins. Shapiro would need to fire himself.
  13. How did that decision work out for the Rays? Did you watch the video with him and C.C Sabathia in the same link?
  14. He walked a guy also. 1.2 IP 3 hits and a BB. Not great.
  15. The Rays were up 1-0 and he had given up two hits with 9Ks and had a low pitch count. The decision to pull him f***ed him up after. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10000205-blake-snell-says-he-was-lost-after-getting-pulled-in-game-6-of-world-series-by-rays.amp.html
  16. You are Rays fan....Didn't the whole MLB learn from the Snell debacle??
  17. There is an article on Sportsnet that show why it was the wrong decision even based upon the numbers and wanting to get the lefty bats out. That didn't work either....
  18. I suspect you are old enough to remember that was a move to shake up the chemistry/culture of the team. Gillick brought in exactly the right guys for that. It was a move to counter sustained failure in the playoffs to that point. McGriff as nice as a guy he was, wasn't what the team needed as a leader.
  19. This team needs a Tony Fernandez and Fred McGriff moment. Pat Gillick saw the Jays get destroyed by the A's in the playoffs with the same core that was good, but not good enough. He made the move and it became Joe Carter's and Roberto Alomar's team. This has been Vlad and Bo's team long enough with not sufficient results. Saying Vlad was one of the best hitters on a horrible offensive squad is not saying much. The Blue Jays do not have have a clean up hitter, because it ain't Vlad and Bo should hit 2nd or 3rd. Barker has been saying all year how bad Vlad's footwork is at 1b and that he thought Mattingly was going to fix it... Apparently not for whatever reason Vlad has been regressing. Where is this potential you are saying there is? It is also foolish to chase upside that is never going to come and then get nothing for Vlad. For the exact reason you are saying we should keep him, probably another team would still trade something decent for him. You need to build an all around solid baseball team. Vlad's production is what you maybe want in the 5th spot if you have nothing else. The offense, Vlad's approach at the plate 3/4 of the year coupled with too many bad plays to go with the good at 1b, plus brain dead moves in other areas some times. Vlad is the change we need to make. He is the main course of the restaurant and you can't just keep changing furniture, adding new sides and paint the room a different color. Time for a new main course.
  20. Why should we continue to roll with Vlad? What makes anyone think he will get better. His contract will be an Albatross if we extend him and I have zero faith in his physique long term. He is a replaceable bat and upgradeable 1B. Move him before his value dips and don't let him be a heartbeat of the team.
  21. I just can't believe the FO didn't learn anything from the Snell debacle... I mean seriously....
  22. Good season? This was a team supposed to win at least the division, and a WS.. Not back into a lower WC spot finish 3rd in the division and lose 0-2 again in the first WC round.
  23. If they would go for it, it would be awesome...Just don't see the Padres going for it...I also like Hoskins at 1B.
  24. Berrios had three Ks in his last complete inning. You don't have worry about ground balls finding a hole when the batters can't hit the ball.
  25. What explains guys hitting previously and then come to the Jays and can't hit... There is a team approach and buy into a process that is team centric... Why have previously decent hitters gone to s*** this year...
