  1. Well, he would probably be able to date taller girls for one.
  2. You stated this is maybe the best off season ever. Regardless of how they were acquired and hindsight, just Martin and Donaldson make it better than this year IMO. I believed that at the time with no benefit of hindsight. You are also using assumptions that this year has been a good year so far. Cease- Excellent; however he averages 5ip.. How much is he really going to move the needle vs Bassitt and Scherzer etc. Ponce (a guy who hung around all my Fantasy teams for years before went to Korea). Kyle Hart won the equivalent of the Cy Young in Korea in 2024. He started out strong in MLB in 2025, but ended up being demoted to AAA and eventually DFAd. Jury is out on Ponce Okamoto is not an improvement over Bo who we lost, will be 30 in the summer and supposedly is not good at 3b... Jury is always out on the Japanese hitters. Not all are Ohtani, especially first 6 month/season. I like the Rogers pick up for back end BP. I think we still need a closer who can close the big game. Our problem really wasn't SP last year. We went 18 inning game 3 and couldn't get a hit. We couldn't score a run after the 6th inning in game 7. We obviously couldn't score enough runs in game 2, 3, 6 and 7. Again, off season is NOT over and lots of players and trades to be made. However, we are a net negative on offense at the moment when I think that is our biggest need coming into the off-season. Add to that there will be regression. I don't see Springer repeating 2025 for one. One injury to Varsho or Kirk or they have down years, we aren't looking so hot. Santander, who knows what we will get. Plus, he is not exactly contact put the ball in play, control the strike zone guy that led to our offensive success last year. Let's see what their finished product is.......
  3. 3B Josh Donaldson: C Russell Martin: RHP Marco Estrada: 2B Devon Travis: OF Michael Saunders: OF Chris Colabello RP Liam Hendriks: I would put the 2014/2015 offseason up against this year so far, every day and Sunday.
  4. 2014/2015 offseason far surpassed this off season in terms of players acquired IMO.
  5. Jose Bautista helped lead us to a ALCS birth in 2016 when he was 35. A year later when he was 36 we couldn't wait to get rid of him . His age 36 year (2017)was the last with the Blue Jays and he played his last MLB game in 2018 (37). I don't have faith in Springer being able to sustain last year or even come close in his age 37 yr. Especially when 2025 was an outlier of the previous 4 yrs. I think the above, plus the expiring contract in 2026 is exactly why the Jays were hot after Tucker.
  6. These two issues are also high on my list of worries about the Team.
  7. These projections are not counting Bo?
  8. JT back to the Phillies is looks like...
  9. I am referring to FA competition vs the big boys. We are like 0-6. I also don't believe we are substantially better Team ****today then the end of last year with the loss of Bo, and not able to add Tucker. ****Albeit, still a lot of players/trades to be had. .
  10. Highly unlikely the Yankees would let the Jays snake Bellinger, assuming they really want him.
  11. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride...... After reflecting on this strategy (short contract high AAV). I concur that it is a smart way to go. You don't have the player taking up roster space or arguments about playing time or pressure to play your X million dollar man when they suck. You pay the same as 8-10 yrs but don't have the bad years, long term obligations.
  12. AZ has taken Marte off the market.
  13. I wonder how much the fact that Freeman and Tucker have the same agent greased the skids/relationship with the Dodgers.
  14. They didn’t win last year and need to improve, not status quo or maybe not as good.. Especially considering the Dodgers just got even better!
  15. f*** me!! This is a kick in the nuts, the most to me out of all of them. I thought he wanted to stay in Florida near Tampa for ST etc. I don’t think Bo is coming back and now not looking so good..
  16. If you read Steve Cohen’s comments about Soto, he thought he was going to the Yankees and didn’t have a decision until the morning of. Not quite sure how this Dude could have predicted anything a few days early. He had a 50/50 chance last time.
  17. Yup, that was it. Then I think Jeff Passan (ICR) broke that he was going to Texas and we were all blue balled.
  18. I have never thought the Jays would win any of the big FA ordeals we have been involved in, going back years to the Japanese pitcher ICR to the more recent, Ohtani, Yamamoto, Soto and Saski. This time however, my instinct for the first time says the Jays could/should win this one. If we can’t win this one, we might as well change strategy and spend money on 2 lesser players etc since waiting so long and allocating the $$ time after time leaves us without all the Lazy boys when the music stops.
  19. Some context from the Soto chase. Before the signing of Juan Soto to the Mets in December 2024, owner Steve Cohen did not tweet about the potential signing directly, but he did make comments about the situation, including one in which he admitted he thought Soto would re-sign with the Yankees . His social media activity around that time included: A public comment in late November 2024 where he was asked about the Mets' pursuit of Soto and said, "We're gonna find out. It's either yes or no. There's no in between and time will tell". Reports indicate that during one of the meetings with Soto and his agent Scott Boras, a frustrated Cohen reportedly said, "Why are we even having this meeting? It sounds like you're coming up with a lot of reasons why you don't want to come to our team!". After the meeting, Cohen told Mets President of Baseball Operations David Stearns he believed Soto was "going back to the Yankees". Cohen was "blown away" when Boras called him the next morning to accept the Mets' offer. After the deal was finalized, Cohen tweeted a message thanking fans and commenting on the boost in ticket sales, but this was after the signing was announced. So, while he was active on social media in general and made some public comments regarding the pursuit, he did not leak any information or tweet about the imminent signing of Soto beforehand. He was actually surprised by the outcome himself.
  20. Not pretty obvious…. It’s a papal reference to awaiting a decision.
  21. Needs to be white smoke. Dark smoke, still no decision… ;)
  22. It's been awfully quiet since the AM rumors. Calm before the storm......
  23. I believe if we do get Tucker, our spring training location will be a big factor. Remember when the number one reason Halladay wanted to go to the Phillies was that he lived in Clearwater and their spring training was in proximity. Listening to lots of MLVB players talk about it, and it is definitely a thing. The Mets are in Florida but in Port St Lucie est (3hrs +) on the south east coast vs Tampa on the west central coast from where Tucker lives. The Jays are the closest ST facility to where he lives of the Teams in the mix, with the Dodgers being in AZ of course,
  24. Not really sure why anyone would be surprised at a $400m long term contract. That is what I assumed it would be coming into the off season. If you would have asked me who I would prefer after the 2024 season to give a long term contract to between Vlad and Tucker, I was all in on Tucker. Vlad was showing to be inconsistent and was still not great at 1b. I think there is a lot of recency bias (or 1 yr sample) of Vlad vs Tucker that makes people think that Tucker should be getting a lot less. If you want to be the bride and not always the bridesmaid you have to step up. These high 3, 4, 500 million plus contracts are the reality in a market that is not in a vacuum and is a competitive market economy. Don't just settle for putting in the tip. Go balls in on players like this!
