  1. Astros could be a suitor for Stroman. They could use some depth in that rotation beyond Verlander and Cole. Kyle Tucker + Jose Urquidy. Would that be a sufficient enough package? You're getting one elite piece in Tucker + a MLB ready pitcher in Urquidy with elite peripherals even though he's not a top prospect.
  2. Martin's sophomore season blows away any other college shortstops. Bregman, Swanson, Senzel never had as good of a season as Martin just did, and Martin should theoretically get better since he's heading into his Jr. season. Plus hit tool that's a plus defender with speed and should move relatively quickly. Reminds me of Rendon with less game power.
  3. Marcus Semien deserves some credit for what he's done in recent years. He's slowly gone from a horrid defender at short (-11.7 UZR in 2015) to a plus defender (8.1 UZR in 2019) and has also cut his K-rate nearly 10% since 2015 while also improving his walk rate by ~3%. Ranked 8th in the MLB in fWAR right now.
  4. Austin Martin's numbers are nuts: .432/.514/.641 He's doing this in the SEC as well. Looks like he's plus defender at SS and has good speed too. That'll play.
  5. tercet, thoughts on Gurribabip doubling his BB%? 2018: 3.4% BB% 2019: 6.8% BB% His swing% has gone from 53.1% last season to 46.9% this season, so he's literally being more selective. Not any smoke and mirrors. It's almost as if younger players can improve the more they play.
  6. He seems to have good enough secondaries to succeed. Get him to throw that fastball high and maybe you've got something.
  7. Velo dip? He was throwing 94 last season.
  8. Took a perfect game into the 7th inning in his debut:
  9. Good enough minor league numbers though. These are exactly the type of players we should be going for at this stage. See if they can be anything.
  10. lol literally just posted this in the Around Baseball thread. Decent pick up. He's been bad, but makes more sense to give him starts over Edwin Jackson. Hopefully Pete Walker can work some magic.
  11. Apparently Nick Kingham was released by the Pirates. Wouldn't mind picking him up even though he's been terrible. Rather be giving him starts over Edwin Jackson.
  12. He’s a year younger than league average in the FSL.
  13. Update: Conine finished 4-for-4 with 2HR and a 2B. Joey Murray: 5IP 0R 1H 2BB 6K. His ERA in Dunedin is 1.49 in 7 games started.
  14. This is exactly why I always wanted Adam Dunn to hit 500 HR. It would've been really interesting to see what the voters would've done there. There's less than 0 case for both WAR wise, but 500 HR is such a huge milestone. Granted, the juiced balls kind of take away from HR's now a days.
  15. Congrats to Edwin for hitting his 400th HR over the weekend! Does he make it to 500?
  16. There’s a glut of arms that are going relatively unnoticed in our system doing the pretty well this season: Joey Murray Zach Logue Josh Wincowskski Nick Allgeyer None of them really project to be aces or anything, but them panning out as cost controlled bottom of the rotation guys would go a long way into helping this rebuild.
  17. Logan Warmoth is slashing .290/.367/.427 in High-A now. K-rate is a tad high, but he's walking a decent bit too. I know it's his 2nd go around in Dunedin, but it's nice to see him doing well.
  18. Our old friend Kevin Pillar has a 61 wRC+ and -2 DRS
  19. Assuming we did offer that to him, could you really see Stroman taking that? I feel like he values himself higher.
  20. Lot of talk around here that Stroman should get extended and not traded, but that's contingent on both the front office and the player sharing similar valuations. Personally, I wouldn't go higher than $70M over 5 years. It'll take him through age 33, and $14M AAV seems about right for a guy like him.
  21. Teoscars routes look slightly better in CF than the corners.
  22. I didn't realize how good of a month Juan Soto had in May: .380/.451/.676 Back up to 145 wRC+ for the season. He's so good.
  23. I’ve been impressed by Biggios ability to go the other way.
  24. Kyle Wright, Patrick Weigel, and Tucker Davidson from the Braves?
  25. 2 out of Tony Gonsolin/Dennis Santana/Mitchell White + maybe a throw in. I think we'll have to settle lower than the May/Ruiz/Lux territory.
