  1. The warning signs were there for Arencibia. His strikeout rate in the minors was absurdly high.
  2. Everything else aside, I'm more curious as to why you're not high on one of the consensus Top 20 prospects in all of baseball and the first teenager to win the Minor League Batting title since 1963. Cautious optimism is one thing, but based on the fact that you proposed that Bo Bichette be traded for Domingo Santana means you're terribly overlooking him.
  3. Hard to believe that Urena is still only 21. I’d give him at least a couple years before writing him off. Plus, switch hitters generally take longer to develop anyways.
  4. They’re gonna leverage Domingo Santana for a starter. Not a prospect like Bo Bichette who might not even be able to help them this season. You generally trade for the best available prospect when you’re rebuilding, not competing and have other holes to fill in order to do so. The Brewers fall into the latter category. Also, if you’re trading a Bichette, don’t you think you’d want to do better than a Domingo Santana? That’s selling Bichettes value short. He’s one of the Top 20 prospects in all of baseball.
  5. Both are Boras clients. Probably drilled into their heads that they can get $200M deals if they wait. All for players getting the most money from teams, but at the same time, it’s funny seeing Boras’ strategy backfire on him. Not to mention neither of Hosmer or Martinez are worth even close to $200M.
  6. Nationals, not Cubs.
  7. Avila to the DBacks for 2 years and $8.25M. That is a steal of a deal. Backup catcher money.
  8. Nate Pearson and TJ Zeuch apparently just missed the Top 100 prospect list on MLB Pipline: https://www.mlb.com/news/12-prospects-who-just-missed-the-top-100-list/c-265553816 So with some graduations bound to happen next season, chances are we have 5 Top 100 protects (assuming Vlad, Bo, and Alford don't graduate themselves)
  9. When your two all stars get injured, you need to have viable depth to be able to fill in for them.
  10. Link: https://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2018-organizational-talent-rankings/#vMwaItRf6lCedGAB.97
  11. Keith law posted his Top 30 farm system rankings: http://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/22197478/keith-law-2018-ranking-all-30-farm-systems Anyone who has insider mind posting it?
  12. Lorenzo Cain got 5 years $80M according to Jerry Crasnick
  13. One of them have to be going to the Giants. My guess is either Broxton or Santana.
  14. If the Brewers sign a good starter like Darvish, they have themselves a team.
  15. 2018 Hall of Fame inductees: - Chipper Jones (1st ballot, 97.2%) - Jim Thome (1st ballot, 89.8%) - Vladimir Guerrero (2nd ballot, 92.9%) - Trevor Hoffman (4th ballot, 79.9%) Edgar fell short at 70.4%, 20 votes shy Mussine fell short at 63.5%, 49 votes shy
  16. 12:16 Ted: Under the radar guy to become the top righty pitching prospect in baseball? 12:18 Kiley McDaniel: Eric and I talked about that for a bit last night and Nate Pearson came up as a guy that could explode. I remembered that when I saw him last spring I saw some parallels to Tyler Glasnow, who did just that. Not the same player, obviously, but shape of the breaking ball, long stride, some mechanical stuff, big guy with big arm speed, etc. there’s some similar stuff going on…but when it comes to pitching prospects, if I talk long enough I pretzel myself into ¯\_(?)_/¯
  17. If we can get him for bullpen money, why not. Throw $3M at him and see if he can give you a bunch of starts of 4.5 ERA from the 5th rotation spot. If he's not good, cut him or move him to the bullpen.
  18. Not sure if this was posted, but Stroman lost his Jordan sponsorship: https://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2018/01/14/sponsorship-breakup-another-chip-for-jays-stroman.html Also tweeted this:
  19. I wasn't the biggest fan of Alex Anthopoulos, but I will eternally be grateful for him going over the signing limit and getting Vlad Jr. That and trading for Donaldson are two of the greatest moves in franchise history.
  20. Phillies f***ed up so badly picking Moniak.
  21. So Nick Senzel and Bichette’s hit tools are graded out as basically the same. Senzel was a 2nd overall pick, meanwhile Bichette went 66th overall. Got me thinking: Where does Bichette go if the 2016 draft were to happen tomorrow? Does he go 1-1?
  22. We ended up with a younger and more athletic version of Jay Bruce in Grichuk anyways.
  23. Greene has run a 4.1 BB/9 to go with a 6.8 K/9 throughout the minors with a 4 ERA. I'd venture to guess he's strongly approaching bust territory at this point. I doubt he'd be worth anything at all if he didn't even throw 100.
  24. We really should try to get Kevin Siegrist now that we lost Leone. He's real good when healthy. We're adding former Cardinals to our team, might as well add another one.
  25. I'm just trying to wrap my head around how deep the Astros system is. They traded away Albert Abreu, Jorge Guzman, Daz Cameron, Franklin Perez, Jake Rogers, Teoscar Hernandez, Colin Moran, Joe Musgrove, and Michael Feliz and they still have a pretty deep system. Tucker + Whitley are probably gonna be Top 20. Embarrassment of riches really.
